| | ICON games release Profanation MSX2 and open webshop |
| | Sunday, January 08, 2006 - 21:00 Submitted by: snout Topic: Games & Demos | | Source: MSX Files
ICON games have released an MSX2 remake of the MSX1 classic Abu Simbel Profanation, originally released by Dinamic in 1985. The new MSX2 remake contains new graphics and improved music and sound effects for MSX-MUSIC. Profanation for MSX2 can be obtained for $5.00 at the newly opened ICON games webshop. Here you can, like in the MRC Webshop, download the game instantly after your payment has been accepted.
Another ICON games release, Breakfree - a game based on the all-time classic concept of Tetris - can also be obtained in this new MSX software webshop for a price as low as $2.50. People who want to check the software out first are in luck, as promo versions of both games are available as well.

| By mars2000you on January 08 2006, 21:30 | Slotman , I just payed for both games by using PayPal, but can't download the files : all I get is 2 zipped files of 1Kb. Can you examine that and say when it is in order, as the number of downloads is limited to 5 times and for 10 days .... ?

| By mars2000you on January 08 2006, 21:33 | Not 10 days ... but 7 days ...

| By mars2000you on January 08 2006, 22:03 | Problem resolved !

| By mars2000you on January 08 2006, 22:22 | I'm just testing Profanation MSX2 in blueMSX ... this adaptation is impressive : nice MSX-MUSIC music and beautiful MSX2 colors in screen 5 ! SLotman , very good work !

| By SLotman on January 08 2006, 23:04 | Thanks
It took a long time to finish this one, but the final result is nice indeed... I caught myself playing it 'till very late last night
| | |
| By SLotman on January 08 2006, 23:05 | And if you guys think 7 days for the download aren't enough, I can raise it to 10, 20 days... not a problem, just let me know

How do you run the game on blueMSX? I get the message "no alloc" (even altering the configuration of the machine and increasing the mapped RAM).

| By SLotman on January 09 2006, 00:20 | Dont forget you need DOS2! So load Dos2 ROM in Cartridge A or B, and the game should run without any problems

| By mars2000you on January 09 2006, 00:35 | Ivan : try in a MSX2 machine and insert the MSX-DOS22 cartridge in one slot
| | |
| By mars2000you on January 09 2006, 00:42 | It works also this way on a MSX2+ .... but not on a Turbo-R, in blueMSX ...
| | |
| By mars2000you on January 09 2006, 00:51 | The same in openMSX : it's OK on MSX2 and 2+ with DOS22, it does not work on a Turbo-R

| By spl on January 09 2006, 01:03 | It looks very good , but now I'll buy BreakFree. I've enjoyed too much the demo some years ago and now game it's available.
I think that webshop system must be more used by MSX community for enjoying new games

| By mars2000you on January 09 2006, 01:10 | I've tried also Break Free ... It's an amazing game, of course very different !
Yes, this system of webshop should be used by all MSX developers, it's secure and fast and everyone is happy !

| By snout on January 09 2006, 01:21 | Needless to say, the MRC webshop can be used by every MSX developer as well. Information on the MRC forum is a little outdated, MRC no longer wants 10% of the sale price, neither are there other limitations. All we do have to charge is sales tax and the fee paypal charges us. Interested developers can contact us at webshop@msx.org and we'll see what we can do . Of course, you can track your sales realtime... Still, it's a good thing there are multiple systems available that help MSX developers distribute their software online, worldwide, fast and secure
~ Other interesting news for developers of MSX hardware and software is coming up as well, but I'm still in the middle of development and knowing my ToDo list, finishing tha might take a while.

| By SLotman on January 14 2006, 02:31 | Pitpan: this one requires 256k of mapper because the tilemap is made up of 8x8 tiles, not by 16x16 tiles like in the original - so the game map is way bigger than the original. then you add more mapper for the moonblaster player and for the music, plus what is needed by MSX-DOS2, and you have a whole 256k
