Games & Demos - Invasion of the Big Pixels

 Topic: Games & Demos

Swedish MSX programmer Sdw has just finished his first MSX demo. It's a production with a style similar to modern retro demos on other systems, in other words: no boring scroll 'n logo, just great effects such as bumpmapping, fullscreen plasmas, etc. Requirements for this fresh new demo are: MSX1 with 64kB RAM and 16kB VRAM. Enjoy!

it's a incredible cool demo this really can measure up again the dvik&joyrex demos.

The demo has a litle problem on 60hz though.

Clap, clap, clap! Really NICE demo, congratulations!, really nice effects shown there. Again, the powers of MSX(1) are demonstrated, keep the good work Sdw, this one just rocks!

WOW, this was really nice!

I hope, you can visit MSX Info Update next year. Skandinavian MSX coders are so rare... It would be nice to meet you.

G R E A T D E M O !!

I can see invaders in screen 3 plasma too!!!!!!!!!!!!! INCREDIBLE and FUN!!!!!!!!!!!

Somehow I got feelin´ that this was done by some Commodore 64 user.... As I instantly recognised music style from Commodore 64 games and demos!!!!! And graphically too.....

(Sadly) no MSX´er would do such demo, MSX´ers don´t see the truth out there they see only japan and japanese won´t do demos like this.....

FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE ON MY TELEVISION!!!! WISH I COULD HAVE HAD DEMOS LIKE THIS IN THE 1980S......

Please do more MSX-1 demos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (thanks!)

Hmm not exactly, I'm a big supporter of styles like these. I once conceived that 4motion engine to do the things *I* want to do, without depending on a coder or a computer. I'm more in favor of demo styles on mid-90's PC's tho, there's usually more room for tailormade music there. PSG/SID may be all retro 'n fun, but for me the Moonsound would be a better demo-soundcard as I have the choice of doing soundscapes and slow ambient with it (which doesn't work well on chipmusic-chips). Anyway, 2ct.
