^_^
do Bussum-visitors also count?

| By Ivan on October 12 2004, 15:36 | The ones that I've liked the most are Diary and Sphere. Sphere has a very impressive effects but I like more Diary for its originality.
| | |
| By Ivan on October 12 2004, 15:41 | TNI Bounce 2004 is also excellent, but it's in the tradition of logo & scoll (not so original).
What do you think of Diary, Sphere and TNI Bounce 2004?
| | |
| By GuyveR800 on October 12 2004, 17:23 | Not original? :/
Most of the effects are not seen before on MSX2!
And the text is pretty funny...
Yes, the demo is old-skool, but "not original"?

I liked it a lot! Amazing piece of code!
| | |
| By NYYRIKKI on October 12 2004, 23:41 | Well... it is easy to understand why your demo is told to be "not original"... Your demo is technically extremely impressive, but do you really need to built is around a text scroller???
It is so easy to see just a typical 1991 demo: Hey, here we are with a brand new text scroller, cool font isn't it... We will send greentings to all of you if you just looklongenough.Wehaveanicebouncingthinglookherecoolisntitnowedontsend

blowsyourmindblahblahblah...
{mod: added a few enters here to keep the layout of MRC readable}
Guyver: I know your skills, I admire your GEM engine, I know you can do better, just use your imagination! (Well... I know you had problem with time as well)
Snout: I just noticed... Can you please fix the Diary entry system requirements.
Ivan: Thank you, I'm very pleased about your comment! Unfortunately I personally guess, that Sphere will take this round... Let's see what ANMA thinks...
| | |
| By GuyveR800 on October 12 2004, 23:44 | Well, making a old-skool demo was a choice we (snout and me) made...
I'm sorry you're fed up with scrolltexts ^^;
I still enjoy them...
Next time I will write one without a scrolltext, especially for you
| | |
| By wolf_ on October 12 2004, 23:48 | nyyrikki.. now you've done it.. a special scrolltext just for you ..
I'd start hiding already
| | |
| By wolf_ on October 12 2004, 23:52 | ooooooh.... bummer.. read it wrong *wants EDIT in FP reactions*

At least make it scroll from left to right or something... :-9
| | |
| By Ivan on October 13 2004, 00:54 | Nyyrikki has read my mind: the TNI Bounce 2004 has excellent bouncing effects but I was feeling dizzy at the end of the demo. Too much reading with bouncing effects.
Well, lets see what ANMA decides.

| By hap on October 13 2004, 14:30 | Correction: 01 - Jone Jumpy minimal system requirements are MSX1.
| | |
| By Bart on October 13 2004, 16:01 | Fixed!
| | |
| By ro on October 14 2004, 08:18 | still haven't seen SPHERE since I can't get it to run on any emulator (some one noticed it'l run only on openmsx.. well can't get that one working too)
why don't bluemsx run this? (since thaz really becoming my fave emu!)
| | |
| By dvik on October 14 2004, 09:03 | Send me a mail and I give you a link to a blueMSX beta that runs the demo.
| | |
| By dvik on October 14 2004, 09:05 | Btw, It runs good in openMSX 0.4.0 as well. Just use the GT machine and enable moonsound.
| | |
| By wolf_ on October 14 2004, 11:01 | ro: sometimes disk2 doesn't seem to coninue the loading .. I dunno if that's our bug, or from openmsx .. just try again then, start from disk 1..
do you at least see that intro?
| | |
| By ro on October 14 2004, 11:53 | bluemsx shows the intro and all, and indeed at the diskswap (briliant diskswap function (alt+f9) in bluemsx!) the disk stops after a few secs and never starts running again... crappy coding I'd say
(oh, the intro is funny. The WOLF picture (from internet ofcourse) has been abused by me a few times before..ghehe. check www.wolvesteeg.nl for some proof)
| | |
| By ro on October 14 2004, 11:54 | nevermind the wolf.gif thingy; I noticed I removed it months ago. solly.
| | |
| By wolf_ on October 14 2004, 12:02 | Ro .. yeah.. we'll do a nice tidy update of it soon .. we were on a close deadline this monday/tuesday
The actual videoscript was done by me between 21:30 (monday) and 01:00 (tuesday) .. that version was in black/white, without the city, the dna-strings and the purple tunnel .. after 03:00 I started to render some new stuff and @ 08:00 it was done the way it is now .. then beef woke-up @ 10:30 orso and hacked the whole stuff together .. you know.. manually cramming all the 8100 frames in several 16kb banks etc. our entry was delivered @ 12:28 .. 2 mins before the even deadlier deadline
It was just rushing all the way .. so if there are minor thingies (like the DOS2 thing, the insert disk2 thing, the emulator issues etc.) those will be repaired..!

answer : strange, on my system, it works perfectly although the speed emulation is not good (because I've only a 800Mhz CPU ... but today, I'll buy a new PC )
| | |
| By Abi on October 14 2004, 12:29 | maybe he use the MSX-Dos2 kernel while loading the demo, if he use that the demo will stop after loading disk 2 for a while.
BiFi will solve that dos2 problem as he said to me.
| | |
| By ro on October 14 2004, 12:56 | nope, no dos2. it runs fine with the intro. then the disk drive stops spinning but no message (I assume I'm supposed to just change disk on the black screen?)
| | |
| By ro on October 14 2004, 13:59 | OK! got it working.... bluemsx: 512 k (had to RESTART the emulator to (as in exit and start it up again) to get settings going)
nice demo indeed. gheh, screen4 pixel-streaming. top!
| | |
| By mars2000you on October 14 2004, 16:19 | ro : I'm glad for you that you have finally seen the demo on bluemsx
and now...I've my brand new PC (3GHz), I'm ready for new emulation adventures !
