MSX Resource Center - MRC Members gain control over MRC ads

 Sunday, December 12, 2004 - 23:25
 Submitted by: snout
 Topic: MSX Resource Center

Although the largest part of the costs the MSX Resource Center Foundation makes to host the MRC, write reviews on hardware and software, offer prizes to challenges and visit MSX fairs are donated to the foundation on a regular basis by the MRC admin team, part of these costs are covered by donations, sales in the MRC Webshop and income from affiliates like eBay, lik-sang and Amazon.

As of August 2004 we introduced a block with MSX auctions on eBay on the left side of our screen, followed by a block of ads by Google. The downside of these blocks is: they can be quite annoying. We have therefore added an option to the 'My account' section of our website, which appears as soon as you are logged in, where you can disable either one of these ad-blocks.

If you want your MRC ad-free, join us (if you had not already done so), log in and adjust the settings in the my account section to your personal preferences. While you're at it, why don't you use one of the other privileges being a registered logged in MRC member gives you like joining the discussions on our ever growing MSX Forum, posting reactions to MSX News, articles or photoshoots, or voting on the polls? Enjoy!

While I don't like adds, I will keep them on my screen.
MRC needs the money, so...

I agree. I also got used to the adds, don't mind seeing them. The e-bay items even add some value.

/me hugs Vincent & tfh..... thanks bro's... but you do know it's the clicks (or even worse: the sales) that count in these programs, eh?
By tfh on December 14 2004, 09:51
Clicks you do get fro me... Sites I feel some connection with, I just help out by clicking on the adds once in a while.
As for buying stuff.. .Sorry :-(

The downtime of last week caused this feature not to function correctly anymore. Now, it does work again
