On
December 23rd we started the MRC Scene Music Remake chalenge. Due to some trouble on our web/mailserver we might have missed out one or more entries. We are currently preparing a new webserver which is capable of handling the ever increasing web- and mailserver load to the MRC webserver and expect to be switching to our new location within the near future.
Due to the potentially missing entries and the low amount of entries submitted so far, we have decided to extend the deadline with one month, to March 5th, in order to allow composers to send in more entries and to make sure none of the entries submitted so far end up lost in cyberspace. If you have sent in one or more entries that have not appeared in our
downloads section as of yet, please do contact us at
smr@msx.org.
For those who are new to the challenge, a short explanation: between now and March 5th, 2006, you can join this challenge by sending in one or more remakes of MSX Scene tunes composed on any equipment you like. You can use original MSX audio chips (PSG/SCC/MSX-MUSIC etc.), but are also allowed to use every synthesizer, piano, guitar or any other instrument you can get your hands on. Just as long as you re-arrange a song which was originally composed by a member of the MSX Community. This means that remakes of songs originally featured in commercially released MSX games, as well as remixes of scene tunes, can not compete in this challenge. Furthermore, you are not allowed to remake songs you have once written yourself.
Of course, you can win a nice prize by joining this challenge, being an MSX T-shirt or a chiptune CD composed by BeepBoy from Japan. You can send your finished entries in mp3 format (192kbps preferred) to
smr@msx.org. Please do include a small description on the equipment you used and how you created the remake. The challenge is opened until March 5th, 23:59 CET. Happy composing!
