Fairs & Meetings - MSX Info Update 2008

 Wednesday, October 24, 2007 - 00:27
 Submitted by: NYYRIKKI
 Topic: Fairs & Meetings

The MSX meeting of the vikings is back! Master of code obfuscation NYYRIKKI has just announced the 2008 edition of this very cozy MSX meeting in Finland. At the moment they don't want to give away any details, but using their website you can already watch a video about what has been happening in their planning meetings. If you live reasonably nearby, keep this MSX meeting in mind!

Fantastic pictures!! And a lot of hats, but where are your personal viking helmets?
I will join you again for sure! But can we make the party inside the cave you showed in the video this time? Looks so cosy!

I really hope I can come too. What did you use to power the MSX in all these scenic environments. And where did you find all the hats?
By Tanni on October 24 2007, 13:43
Nice landscape. Your're doing some kind of outdoor computing. Really great!

In MSX tR there is place for batterys and a switch on the left side of the computer to select the internal/external power source. With batterys I had it did run only about half a second after switching to internal power, but from local electric shop I managed to find some super mega plus over voltage extra power++ alcaline turbo II batterys that made the computer to run 3 hours without battery change.

For the monitor we used legion of hamsters connected to hamsterpower converters *. Sometimes we had some problems with brightness, but nothing that a stick hit to the powerbox would have not solved.

* Hamsterpower converter unit ver 0.2

And what about the coffee maker. Based on how much coffee you seemed to drink I think that may have been the biggest power user

An MSX meeting in the middle of a forest, in a cave and on the shore of a lake!? That's radical!
By spl on October 25 2007, 03:16
NYYRIKKI , I have just today visited for first time the MSX INFO website... but I like all: pictures (wow! you have even Pleasure Hearts or a Laser Disc there!!), downloads (The previous unreleased games of 2007, for example), great people (humm... why you are so far just now for me? or better "will I be able to go there any year"?), etc... what about the 2006 disk, will be available again?

Finland ... Is this the country that has the BASIC demonstrations and games?

Educational System.
Studying.
This year [like in the previous ] Finland got a 'first place' on the educational system for one of the categories. Korea got the first place into another category (like the previous years) ...

Are you serious?

By NYYRIKKI on December 21 2007, 16:32
@Yukio You should not believe everything you read from internet. Every good story has anyway some part of truth and this time it was the fact that the MSX tR really did run on batterys. How ever they were not "super mega plus over voltage extra power++ alcaline turbo II batterys"

About 2006 game disk... Yes, removing Griels quest from it is on my todo list. After that I think it could be put back online.
By dvik on December 29 2007, 08:07
Nyyrikki, do you have decided on a date for the party yet?
By NYYRIKKI on December 30 2007, 16:57
No, I don't have date yet, but sometime next summer / autumn.

BTW Now I finally updated the MIU2006 game disk and it can be downloaded again.
