MSX Unleashed - update

After the release of the impressive MSX1 demo disk MSX Unleashed a couple of minor bugs were found. This release fixes these bugs:

A bigger bug in the 105 color image renderer made the images quite poorly generated. This bug was fixed before Tecnhicolor was released, but the original MSX Unleashed used the buggy version. MSX Unleashed now also features properly generated pictores
The Palette was not initialized correctly on MSX2 machines
Width 80 was not recognized in the bonus part. Now its handled correctly

You can download MSX Unleashed from our freshly improved downloads section as a .DSK or .LZH image. MSX Unleashed is the first release in our downloads corner to be offered with screenshots and DSK/LZH downloads. We will slowly, but steadily add more screenshots and DSK downloads to our downloads section in the future.

I like the screenshots add-on too!. Could be a hard work to add all the missing screenshots; but it will finally looks terrific!. As a suggestion....could the name/link of the item show a little icon when it has a screenshot? and maybe could it be clickable to open a popup and see only the screenshot?.

Any chance to have this demo (or at least a part of it) available on tape? I'd really like to test it on my real MSX, not just inside an emulator.

We have an unreleased tape version too (and even a rom version

). I'm not sure if it includes the latest changes though. I'll see if I can find it, but I think I need to ask Vincent (or if he replies here).

The tape version still had a bug

It did work on bluemsx, but it failed on a real msx and in openmsx. Especially the real msx part was the bug that eh.. bugged me

I was thinking that the technique can be used also to have up to 4 different colours each 8 pixel lines.

yes, but with some restrictions:
- heavy screenflicker, not eveyrone likes that..
- if you want pure colors (pure white, pure black etc.) then you can't have another alternating color, so with 4 colors in 8 pixels all the colors will be a bit in the middle of everything.

Correct, you cannot have pure colours, but at least any pure colour can be mixed with black.
