MSX Resource Center - MSX.ORG asp script bug exploited

Some of our visitors might have seen a very strange news posting on our website today. Thanks to a `hacking` group called affix, our website has been `defaced` for a small amount of time. They exploited a security bug in our ASP scripts and altered the contents of Bart's news post on the new Konami games. They appear to do the same trick on several websites. A list of their defacing activities can be found here. Of course, we recovered our site and solved the security bug.

sad assh*les...
had a hacker on my forum when it started as well.. did not deface it... only ruin all new posts by installing censors on words like The, And & on...
But that's how I found XM so I might want to thank him.... NOT...
let them all just get a life like Algo. said...
defacing sucks... if you discover a security breach, just report it the normal way...

You're right msxxspress, why the didn't report the security branch? We are not a government page, we are the people!

besides, it wasn't really a security breach. While coding the ASP script in 2000 (and while adjusting it up to now) none of the msx.org members really assumed anyone would ever attempt to hack the system.

Well, I'll rather stick to PHP, (though it has it's flaws as well..) but I know what you mean... some of my older scripts can be easily broken as well... Sometimes I scare myself with the lousy coding I did a while ago but I am just a small fish in the sea (though I am getting bigger hile growing up )
