Games & Demos - MSXdev'07 - 04 Mr. Mole

Spanish developer Nerlaska, the winner of MSXdev'06 with his RPG Monster Hunter, has just submitted a finished entry for this year's edition of MSXdev! Mr. Mole is the title of his game, a Break-out clone starring a mole. The game is available in two versions: 128KB ASCII8 ROM, and 128KB KONAMI SCC ROM. Additionally, a sticker is supplied, as well as a manual in both the English and Spanish language.

Nice to see another MSXDEV '07 entry
I've played it a bit, stopped at cave 11. If you're planning to update this game before the deadline like you did with Monster Hunter, you might want to know there's a bug: if the ball directly hits a 90 degrees corner with an angle of 45 degrees, it will usually go through, even through a wall (it'll be stuck in it for a while with a phone ringing sound). Another thing, unrelated to that bug, out of sheer (bad) luck I got stuck in the left section of cave 08.. would have had to reset the MSX if it weren't for meisei's reverse

Nice to see a new breakout game! I particularly like how the power-ups (magnet etc) show. Well done!

So, why is it 128kB? What's in all those bytes? Or is the (level) data not compressed?
By wolf_ on November 01 2007, 10:12
The scc version RARs to 25KB, the psg version RARs to 24KB, that's even more scary.., 1KB compressed for the extra scc channels

Nice BGM also nerlaska.
And at least more than one.
Just gave it a quick look and already heard three BGM scores. Nice!

Thank you to all the people. For us is cool to contribute in MSX and in MSXDev.
About bugs .. yes .. we want to fix them and update current ROMS.
About MegaRom Size .. well .. in the next update ROMS will be the amount of 48Kb, ok?

Thank you guys!!

Very nice game.
Sometimes, I think that the MSX deserve more (FREE) games like this one ...

For some reason, the title screen resemble those Mole-Mole games (that people need to hit a number from 1-9)!
