MSXdev'07 - Goonies: The Movie announced

Challenges - MSXdev'07 - Goonies: The Movie announced

 Topic: Challenges

Only two days after the initial announcement the first project for this year's MSXdev game development competition has already been announced. Crappysoft, known from such games as Pyramid Quest, Mars Lander, Zero Gravity, Computer Wars, Cheating Wives, Crazy Buggy and Manicomio have announced to join this year as well with a game called Goonies: The Movie.

This project is planned to be a game based on Konami's well known The Goonies, but with new graphics, new and rearranged musics and a new storyline. More information on this project can be found on the status page at the MSXdev website.

Very good idea, you are sync with me!!
Exist a possibility for a MSX2 version (SCREEN5 or 8)?

I have no idea about MSX2, but as graphic improvements are allowed, I'll study the MSX2 specific modes. Which enhancements could be done? Which is the screen mode more similar to screen 2? Maybe a different palette?
By viejo_archivero on April 13 2007, 10:32
Palette changes can be done even in screen 2. But if you want more MSX2 action, you can use screen 4 and the multicolor sprites!, or SCREEN 5, but hey, don't you forget that it must work in MSX1 too! ^_^.

Palette changes in sc2? Maybe you are talking about that second palette which is brighter? I'll take a look at screen 4 then

On MSX2 you can just do COLOR=(2,3,3,4) in screen 0 1 2 3. Take a look at U:U and RNFF when they're running (naked) on MSX2. Both run in Screen 2!
