Celebrating the 20th anniversary of this breakthrough game, Konami have launched a special Metal Gear 20th anniversary website and announced a special collectors edition of Metal Gear games to released on July 26th, 2007, 20 years after the release of the game that started it all: Metal Gear 1 for MSX. Metal Gear: 20th anniversary collection, selling at only 6900 yen (about 40 euro), will contain the following items:To top it off, a special Metal Gear audio CD called Metal Gear Music Collection will be released as well, selling at only 2800 yen (about 16 euro). The Metal Gear 20th anniversary website also hints there will be a special 20th anniversary event, but there currently is no further information available about that. It is also not clear yet whether or not these 20th anniversary goodies will be released outside Japan as well.

Cool, but ... are they releasing dedicated separate Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 games? Are those emulated or remakes?
By snout on June 02 2007, 17:17
I think it's "merely" a re-release of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. Same versions as previously released

seems like a great box, unless you already have everything.
I got MGS and MGS2 for PC (because I used to not have a PS2), and MGS2 is not working in Vista.... since the originals on PS/PS2 are better anyway, I'd seriously consider getting this box if it gets an english release, despite the fact that I already have subsistence and don't have a psp.

Take a look at this screenshot from that website (takes a while to load). Didn't know that Konami had translated Metal Gear 2 - Solid Snake into English! You can read 'He's not here.'

Both games (MG1 and MG2) were already released in English with MGS3 Subsistence for the PS2.

seems they're mostly keen on the playstation stuff haha !

well, some way to celebrate your history with excluding the original msx stuff.
Least thing they can do is drive to that big building that stores all the solid snake
cartridges and include those with the package
By Samor on June 04 2007, 21:23
they're including the remakes on recent hardware - don't think that's a bad way of handling things.

You want MSX carts in the pack? Well, call Konami and tell them Matra makes new ones

I hope this audio CD matches the excellent quality of Metal Gear Red Disc, I could not resist pre-ordering it!
