MultiROM game collection

Games & Demos - MultiROM game collection

 Friday, November 24, 2006 - 09:30
 Submitted by: Guillian
 Topic: Games & Demos

As we previously announced, Manuel Pazos is to release new MultiROM cartridges on the 9th of December, during the next MSX user meeting in Barcelona. As an extra promotion, a MultiROM cartridge with no less than 8 different games will be sold for 10 euro. The games on this cartridge have just been announced:

As you can see, this is a very good reason to visit the next MSX user meeting in Barcelona, if you have the chance to do so.

How much do€s it cost?
and how get it?

By Huey on November 24 2006, 09:56
I only count 8 games
By cesco on November 24 2006, 10:01
I'll never be able to visit Barcellona this December. Any chance to buy one of these MultiROM cartridges online?
Gee... I hope that sooner or later some Karoshi games will be available in one of these MultiROM carts...
What about a "Karoshi Best-of-the-best compilation" cart with these games?

Griel Quest For The Sangraal
Saimazoom
Malaika
Speedjet Racers
Phantomas Saga Infinity
Monster Bash / Columns (if ready)
Dynamite Dux (I love this game, and hope that sooner or later its MSX port will be completed)

Great news But this will unfortunately disqualify traffic jam and operation wolf from msxdev'06. Maybe this rule can be removed before december 9th so they won't be disqualified:

Quote:

Do not redistribute neither unfinished or finished versions of the game before the end
of the contest. Finished versions will be distributed only from the MSXdev'06 official
web pages before the end of the contest. Beta versions used for debugging and testing
purposes are allowed, but they should be only distributed to beta-testers.

By selios2000 on November 24 2006, 10:21
MANUEL, BRING AS MUCH CARTRIDGES AS YOU CAN! I CANNOT MISS IT!!
By viejo_archivero on November 24 2006, 11:02
dvik: I was talking with the authors and both Operation Wolf and Traffic Jam are heavily enhanced versions, very different to those entered the contest: Traffic Jam features more stages and goodies, and Operation Wolf includes cool graphical intros and lots of add ons such as mouse support and more. So, those enhanced versions could not compete into the contest: but the original ones submitted to the contest are perfectly legal entries, as those versions have not been released in other media than the MSXdev'06.

GREAT!
I'm waiting for a MultiRom game collection - OCM bundle
That would be so cool.
By dvik on November 24 2006, 11:15
That should be good then. I just don't want to see these entries disqualified. I thought it was worth mention so there won't be any issues after this very nice release.
By viejo_archivero on November 24 2006, 11:21
Yeah, that will be a NICE release. I'll get one for sure! (yeah, Karoshi will be there!) ... and about that 2 missing games in the list... hidden games inside or something?
By Imanok on November 24 2006, 11:35
It must be a mistake... AFAIK it's not possible to put more than 8 games in that MultiROM cartridge.
By Ivan on November 24 2006, 12:24
Wow! The Cure and an extended version of Operation Wolf. I will get that cartridge!
By Ivan on November 24 2006, 12:28
And the best tetris game ever released for MSX!
By Guillian on November 24 2006, 13:15
This multiROM cartridge has 8 games 'only'. It could be possible to put more depending on its size (i.e.: 32 games of 8k). But as Imanok said, in this case the limit is 8.
I'll try to take enough copies to Barcelona
By ro on November 24 2006, 14:54
very cool, and only 10 buckaroons.. yeah!

By SapphiRe on November 24 2006, 15:01
A question: how can we select the desired game to play it?
By Guillian on November 24 2006, 15:07
You have to play or select them sequentially. By pressing RESET the next game is selected.
By SaebaMSX on November 24 2006, 15:18
It can be done by pressing Select so it changes to the next game.
[Edit] Hmm... I was too late... since my boss was behind me after I started to write it.
By SapphiRe on November 24 2006, 17:37
The cartrigde has a RESET button or you mean the RESET button on the MSX?

My MSX has no RESET button ...
By manuel on November 24 2006, 18:22
8*32k? But aren't The Cure and UU 48k? I guess some are smaller then.

Anyway, I'd like to order it as well! Manuel Pazos: please make it available for the rest of us!
By Bastiaan on November 24 2006, 18:29
hurray for Manuel Pazos!!
By Guillian on November 24 2006, 18:45
>My MSX has no RESET button ...

No problem. Just switch off and on your MSX. The next game will appear
You don't need to do it quickly. You can wait several seconds before turning you MSX on again.

>8*32k? But aren't The Cure and UU 48k? I guess some are smaller then.

Actually it is 64k * 8 (512k)

>Anyway, I'd like to order it as well! Manuel Pazos: please make it available for the rest of us!

Don't worry about that. It will be available for everyone

Thank you very much to all of you for the reactions!

By KNM on November 24 2006, 20:12
Hey Guilian! I cannot this time to barcelona but I want a cart. Please, reserve one for me for sending it by mail!If you want, contact me by phone or mail. Thanks in advance!
By spl on November 25 2006, 05:18
Guilian, sure that I will buy you a cart next 9th December! KNM... I thought that you were able to go there... If you don't know who I am, on other MSX forums I am known as Xenon
By Chardson on November 25 2006, 05:40
If there was online shopping and shipping to Brazil, I would pre-order it RIGHT NOW! Will it ever be possible?
By Patsie on November 25 2006, 10:27
I too would love to get a copy (or actually 2). But having to go to Spain (from The Netherlands) to get them is a bit expensive and time consuming. If there was a way to get it through mailorder I would be first in line
By dvik on November 25 2006, 11:43
I'd like one too. I'll try to sneak in front of the line when Patsie doesn't pay attention. Would it be possible to have one shipped to the US?
By Guillian on November 25 2006, 12:17
As I said in a previous post, the cartridge will be available for everyone
Probably Sunrise will distribute it and I'll acept orders after the Barcelona meeting.
So unless I run out of stock, every user interested will get his/her multiROM cartridge.

Do you know RyanAir or Vueling?
By poke-1,170 on November 25 2006, 18:23
heh great ! games on cartridges, didn't know it could even be that cheap !
good work lads, wouldn't mind getting one myself later
By sunrise on November 26 2006, 08:12
Waiting for your reply guillian
By msd on November 26 2006, 13:23
Isn't there a more elegant way to switch games? Does this mean you might need to press reset several times to access a certain game?
By Guillian on November 26 2006, 14:12
The game selection could be made with a menu, like it is done in MegaFlashROM multiROMs. But then we need to use a mapper (or similar) and will increase the price.
I think pressing a button 1 or 7 times is not a too hard job
By Samor on November 27 2006, 18:39
seems fine to me. I have memorycards for sega dreamcast that work that way

By BiFi on December 03 2006, 21:57
pressing a button isn't... but switching off and on your MSX up to 7 times because it doesn't have a reset button isn't fun for your MSX...
By Guillian on December 04 2006, 06:29
Probably our MSX would have died several years ago if that was too hard for them...
By Samor on December 04 2006, 11:19
You usually play a game for more than a minute anyways

....why do you have to turn the msx on/off 7 times for it anyway? Can't one press SELECT 6 times instead? Or does that not work?

By BiFi on December 04 2006, 12:55
going by the description the selection is done by hardware using the cartridge slot's /RESET signal...
By Guillian on December 04 2006, 13:38
That's right. The cartridge uses the /RESET signal to change the game.
