The Goonies by Kralizec - Promo video

Games & Demos - The Goonies by Kralizec - Promo video

Kralizec is working on a new MSX game called 'The Goonies'. Compared with the Konami title, this version is a more accurate adaption of the well known film. It also includes several digitized images in the screenmodes 8 and 12 when a V9938 or V9958 is available.

The game will be released this year on a 4Mb cartridge with SCC and will be available at the MSX Cartridge Shop.

Wow!
It's great!
Congratulations Kralizec.
By DemonSeed on May 27 2008, 16:20
O_O It looks excellent!

With each new product I see from these guys, I think I'm becoming a Kralizec fan!

Looks very well!

Maybe old player config here, but I got a small display -which kept changing size- in the bottom-left corner in that avi.. prolly some new exotic codec again. Ohwell.

I used XVID codec to make the AVI. It works fine here on VLC, BS Player, Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic. Try to update the XVID codec to check if it solves the problem.

Looking good. Goonies meets Usas meets Superman (phonebooth).

I hope that the organ and slides part are also present in this version
I always imagined how such thing could be done in a game.
By SapphiRe on May 27 2008, 20:51
Huey: actually phonebooths are from Psychic 5 made in 1987 by Jaleco.

Anyway, great game!!!

Looks fantastic indeed! And I also thought of Uşas, with the player switch stuff... Very cool
By Oscar on May 27 2008, 23:46
Great job!! Brutal!!
By dhau on May 28 2008, 03:03
Looks very cool, and I am not even a fan of the movie.
By Morg on May 28 2008, 08:58
Looks great! I can't wait no more to get it.
By Hydlide on May 28 2008, 09:00
excellent, it does need some spelling correction, but it looks great so far
By yum on May 28 2008, 09:40
Wow, great game. I only dislike the font that's been used. There is a great Goonies font floating around somewhere on the net. Maybe you can use that. Considering the rest... RESPECT!!!!!!
By pitpan on May 28 2008, 09:56
I like the font, it is so gameboy-alike!

And regarding the spelling, I think that it is fine, considering that it tries to catch the Goonies' chat. Anyway, it looks so Japanese that it deserves a good amount of typos, as in all Konami productions.

As said before, RESPECT!
By kliis on May 28 2008, 10:32
I only have one word: Amazing!
Congratulations!

By wolf_ on May 28 2008, 10:40
How much VRAM is left for tiles storage? If there's still some left I'd use it for some more variation. Background tiles with some cracks in it, slightly different textures, etc. I've seen only a few such variations in a certain spot of the level, but mostly there's only one type o' brick in the background.

2ct.

Curious about enemies with gun. They never fight any projectile... it's normal?
By MrSpock on May 29 2008, 00:12
Great job, Kralizec! Waiting for the release!
By Vampier on May 29 2008, 08:13
I would take a critical look at the english text displayed

Looks great otherwise (ps don't use the word shit in a game, some people might find it offensive)
By Imanok on May 29 2008, 09:09
Really impressive!!... just can't wait to put my hands on it!!

About the english text, they're using the same slang as the film, AFAIK.
By yum on May 29 2008, 11:14
Yes, It's all (somewhat) taken from the movie. But... offended by the word shit? Holy excrament, that's lame... If people are offended by the word shit: BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID! SOMETHING EVEN WORSE WILL BE RELEASED SOON!
By wolf_ on May 29 2008, 12:44
Offended is perhaps not the right word here, but I somewhat agree that the word isn't really needed, or could be replaced by a somewhat more timeless expression. With timeless I mean: you also don't want computers/mp3-players/dvd-burners/p2p etc. to get a role in Donald Duck comics, as those play in the first half of the 20th century. I somehow relate 'shit' not with *anything* I'd usually see in computer games. It's a matter of style..
By Guillian on May 29 2008, 13:16
>I would take a critical look at the english text displayed

The game tries to use the same language that the one used in the film: Here is the script: http://www.geocities.com/goonies_e/script.html
But any help to improve the grammar is welcome. So please post here you suggestions or send an email to Kralizec. http://www.kurarizeku.net/

Slurp! I want it!
By yum on May 30 2008, 02:06
Just to keep the Goonies frenzy going. Check this out: A Goonies racing game!

Looks like it's going to be a fun game.
Though I (automatically) cringe at some parts of the music with my ears sensing it sounds off-tune.
By DemonSeed on May 30 2008, 23:25
Yes, what's with the all-over-the-place modulation?
By mtini on May 31 2008, 02:16
GREAT GAME, certainly I will buy one for me !

GREAT WORK !!
