Games & Demos - The Mansion and Space Crussader added to MSXDev'05

 Topic: Games & Demos

Two new games have been added to the MSXdev'05 competition: The Mansion and Space Crussader. These entries were not previously registered nor announced, not even to the MSXdev'05 organisation. The Mansion is an icon-based graphical text adventure with vampires. It's packed in a 16 KB ROM and is available in both English and in Spanish. Space Crussader is a spaceship simulator, packed in a 32 KB ROM. As The Mansion, it is available in both English and Spanish.

Germán Gómez Herrera is the responsible for these two MSX productions. With these two entries there are now 26 registered projects in the MSXdev'05 contest and only 11 days left until the end of the deadline. All finished MSXdev'05 games can be downloaded from the MSXdev'05 status page.

neither does wolf sometimes

anyway, great to see MSX development blooming like this.

obviously it was fixed (a dead link caused by " " ) before you got to read that line..

Might be a dumb question... but does The Mansion work on a real MSX 1? Because BlueMSX Japanese
MSX 1 (my default preset) shows a few nice blue lines istead of the tilte text screen...

It at least works on a National CF-1200 Japanese MSX1 in openMSX.

However, is it normal that Space Crussader doesn't work on an MSX2 like the Philips NMS 8250? It hangs on openMSX, right after the logo blink.

By the way, that Space Crussader game looks a bit like Star Ship Simulator by Nexia

Which one are you talking about?
By pitpan on December 10 2005, 00:55
Ok, I've sent the report to the programmer. I hope he'll be able to fix it. I guess that the problem is somehow related to mapping and memory.

Space Crussader hangs after the inital logo

I think the cartridge needs to be in slot 1. The japanese config (at least in blueMSX uses slot 2 and 3 for cartridges). The same blue lines appear if you insert the rom on a european machine in slot 2.
By manuel on December 10 2005, 09:59
ARTRAG - yes, I already said this, it only works on an MSX1 config here.
By dvik on December 10 2005, 10:07
In blueMSX it works on the default MSX2 and MSX2+ config but not on for example the NMS8250. It looks like the mapper is not handled correctly in the game (as already mentioned). Hopefully its not a too big thing to fix.

I didn't know two things:
  1. the KUN BASIC compiler being free to spread like this
  2. the KUN BASIC compiler being for MSX1
This might also be the cause Space Crussader not working well...
