Tilburg 2003 reminder

Today at 10:00 CET the annual International MSX Fair of Tilburg will start. Active MSX users of Netherlands and abroad will meet in 'Wijkcentrum De Schans' in Tilburg. As usual, CGV Tilburg is the host of this special computer users meeting, where most attention goes to MSX computers. There are more stand holders han last year, which promises a good thing for the fair itself. We are looking for a busy day at the MRC stand. Here's the full list of standholders and their activities:
  • CGV Tilburg - Fair organization
  • MSX-NBNO - Selling software, manuals and XSW magazines, including a new software title: Imanok's Cat 'n mouse
  • Team Bomba - Demonstrating the latest version of Bombaman.
  • The openMSX development team will show the latest version of openMSX
  • Deltasoft will sell lots of software titles as usual, including the recently released translation of Xak 1. Furthermore a new English translation, Falcom's Sorcerian will be released
  • MSX Affiliates Forum will announce a special contest at their booth
  • Bitwise will demonstrate their TMTNet Network interface and an USB interface to use a PC as a diskdrive.
  • MCWF will be selling MSX computers and hardware, and offer information on MSX repairs.
  • MSX Info magazine will be promoting their magazine, Padial hardware, cables, second-hand hardware and imported software
  • TNI - Demonstration of a new version of GEM, the Gameboy Emulator for MSX. This new version uses both the Z380 and the GFX9000 for maximum speed. Also a new project will be announced; we heard it's something BIG
  • Sargon is back and will release two new translations. Hydlide 2 and Randar 1 will be released in English at last. Furthermore the English translation of Rune Worth will be demonstrated.
  • HCC MSX-GG will have a stand as well, selling Public Domain software and some hardware.
  • Sunrise will be selling their impressive lineup of hardware (IDE cartridges, CompactFlash interfaces, GFX9000, Moonsound) and software
The MSX Resource Center stand offers many activities throughout the entire day. On our stand we will have several interesting lectures from 11:00 to 14:00. A detailed timeschedule will be handed out on the fair itself.
  • Marcel Delorme will talk about his OPL4 wave editor for GFX9000
  • Manuel Bilderbeek (or David Heremans) will have a small talk about openMSX
  • There will be a presentation about Guru Logic for MSX
  • Michiel de Vries will give an in-depth presentation about Meridian, the MIDI editor capable of playing MIDI files through the Moonsound (OPL4). The version demonstrated already is capable of playing MIDI files using a standard GM bank consisting out of PCM wave tones.
  • Perhaps Team Bomba will show some Bombaman highlights
Apart from these presentations, you can have a look at MSX Magazine 2003, Emulator & Games magazine and the @rroba magazine that featured an interview with the MSX Resource Center. Also we will have a large amount of rare Japanese MSX games for sale. Throughout the day, some people will share the stand with us.
  • Maarten van Strien (aka Wolf) will sell his Moonsound sample CD
  • Michiel de Vries will demonstrate Meridian
  • Marcel Delorme will demonstrate his OPL4 wave editor.
  • Daniel Kim (a.k.a. Ginseng) will be selling slotexpanders from Brasil.
As you can see, there are more than enough reasons to pay a visit to the International MSX fair in Tilburg this year. Be sure you don't miss the MSX Resource Center stand! We're looking forward to meet you there!

The fair was great, lots of interesting stuff! ^_^
Too bad the organisation was FUBAR! :/
By DarQ on April 26 2003, 19:34
FUBAR????
By djh1697 on April 26 2003, 20:34
FUBAR = not very good
in English it means Fucked Up Beyond All Recognision
By wolf_ on April 26 2003, 20:47
Indeed... the crap-organisation of this fair will be the discussion for the next weeks I think..

You just can't demonstrate something in a room 5x5m. (meridian)

By DarQ on April 26 2003, 22:36
really??? thats evil! what was so fucked about the fair? cant imagine that its so hard to demonstrate meridian in a 5x5m room. Ok, its quite small but meridian could be demonstrated on just 1 computer. And a room filled with a crowd is something i cant imagine anymore.

lets not hope that this results in no-tilburg-anymore, cuz i'd like to visit that fair at least one more time.

Sure was a fun day
Good to see all the familiar faces again and meet new peepz
and indeed some (quite a lot) things could be improved next time...
For instance roadsigns (which could've saved us 15minutes ), better aircirculation (damn it was hot on the top floor...) and more/sooner communication with the stand/boothholders.

Hmmm.. we arrived at about 10.30 but either we were too early or missed something.. it was kinda quiet, empty, only 3 or 4 stalls with MSX stuff, nothing much for sale. I'm kinda dissapointed, I was under the impression more would be shown...
By snout on April 27 2003, 09:59
Hydlide - you missed a LOT then, mainly because of the fairs organisation. The room the MRC was in was way to small to set up the beamer for presentations (as we had announced) and the room was indeed quite crowded most of the time. You'll read more about it in our fair report
By GuyveR800 on April 27 2003, 12:56
I get the feeling Hydlide didn't visit the 2 floors upstairs!
By Bart on April 27 2003, 13:41
Indeed Hydlide, did u visit the 1st and 2nd floor at all???
By Hydlide on April 27 2003, 13:45
was there a 2nd floor??? woooops.. nope, missed that
it wasn't clear at all... better put up *big* signs next time..
By robertwilting on April 27 2003, 16:12
I had a feeling that the setup was quite screwed.

When I first arrived I thought whooh 4 stands. But then my logical scense said hey where the f* are Sunrise,TNI,Sargon,Deltasoft. Just to name a few groups I would have expected based on the info on the net and for that reason I thought well lets look where these stairs go.
