Emulation - fMSX for GameBoy Advance - First steps

A Japanese MSX fan is trying to port fMSX on GameBoy Advance. As the first version hangs after some time, there is no official release as of yet, but you can already see some nice screenshots with Konami Ping-Pong running on a Gameboy Advance on this Japanese blog.

I'm a bit curious how the MSX software should be loaded into the GBA, then. Also what to do with games that use more than 6 buttons and the cursor keys.

Damn, why didn't he port openMSX to GBA??

In 2002, Ricardo Bittencourt made an alfa version of a MSX emulator for GBA (I wrote the PSG emulation code). It ran fine on GBA but: GBA resolution is lower than MSX (240x160, while MSX1 is 256x192 - you miss 2 columns and 4 rows on screen); Ricardo used Marat's Z80 emulator for testing, so it ran very slow. The ROM files were appended to the end of the code and you select one of them to play. Unfortunatelly I don't have this program anymore.

Manuel, I doubt if openMSX could run on a GBA... It's a heavy program for such hardware.

Btw... Are we 0wn3d or what!?!? And by a handheld NINTENDO no less!!

(otoh, it could've been worse... owned by a commodore :S)

There is fmsx/s60 for mobile phones and you're worried about a handheld nintendoos?

Adriano: I think it should be possible by optimizing the video output for GBA.
