Just add 2 or 4 512KB roms!
By Google
First code it. Then look for a solution.
norakomi: in these days of bitbust -and since it's ROM: no loading time- what kind of game are you talking then eh? What's in it? FMV?
It is Manbow3!
I basically have a very big game in mind, hahaha.
with manbow2 I managed with bitbusting and 512kB,
but the whole rom is packed.
For a new game, which is simply gonna be bigger than manbow2,
I need a bigger cartridge....
But,
if this is not available, then this leaves me no choice but to make a 512kB game......
all help is welcome....
The AM29F040 is used in several MSX hardware projects, including Nowind. It is 512kB and quite cheap.

Erm guys
@Kwik if he needs bigger than 512kB ( is equal to the chip you mention namely a 4 megabits flashrom) it doubles everytime , namely to 8 megabits like tghe kOEI GAMES, 16 megabits needed for if one wants to do it bombaman , and e.g. paiii and tlw need a 32 megabits rom
@pitpan very wise solution indeed since it is not that simple as saeba suggests
Note that those chips are quite expensive , but yah you can find them although farnell has not bigger than a one suitable as 8 megabits
Why not make it a hd game? Many msx users have sunrise ide or cf adapter,so in that way you are not limited by the size of a cartridge. Also add a quit to dos option in the game and all is fine
(just a thought)
Best regards

I was just joking, I do know that it is not that simple!
But, in fact, it is possible in this way, but of course more than adding chips have to be done.
And I agree with you, first code then ask. Delivering games in CD/cards would be wise too, as Delta Soft made in the past.

Best regardsI dont want to make a ONLY hd game, because then only people with a hd can play the game. I prefer a cartridge release.
first code then ask my experience with manbow2 is that "first code then ask" is a bad idea.
Because manbow2 uses saving to rom and scc.
Which means that when the game was finished I had to look for someone who could release the game for me on a flash rom with scc......
And thats exactly the reason why manbow2 is still not released... and it will take quite some months before it WILL be released....
So, NO, I don't want to make the same mistake...
That's why I FIRST want to know
* what kind of hardware is available
* where is it available
* how much does it cost
So if I cannot find 1MB or 2MB cartridges, then I will NOT program for it.
I prefer: "first plan, then code"
