DE0 vs DE1?

While browsing the web, looking for more info on where to get a DE1 board, I found that there's also a DE0 board sporting a Cyclone III rather than the II on the DE1. The DE0 board is a bit smaller than the DE1 and the Cyclone III on it has less LEs than the Cyclone II on the DE1 board, so I was wondering whether it would be possible to run the OCM on this board...

The FPGA is bigger in every regard, so that should not be a problem. But you will need to rewrite some of the stuff to make it work. Most of it might simply be reassigning pins (SD), but it could also be more complex if you need to change the memory controller for instance. You could check the DE1 version to compare the external hardware and see if that would provide a good starting point.

I bought DE0 and has already begun to adapt the OCM under this board.

Cool Smile Is there a real advantage to using the DE0 rather than the DE1 (except for the amount of $$$)?

The advantages other than price and smaller size no.
The big disadvantage that there is no audio codec.
We'll have to do audio output using PWM.

Any future plan Question (if I may ask)

May I suggest Master System VDP (TMS9918 derivative)?
That would make the OCM core just too sexy for my love Big smile
