Yes, it's true. But don't worry, ppl who created games will continue with new ones. Maybe under a new group name, but there will be new games.

As I said in the Spectrum forum, it ain't totally closed yet, it will be closed after the release of Capitán Sevilla (Captain 'S') Remake, and some more games will be released before it.

More info here:

And yesterday we started the preview of the next game (mine!):

Copypasting from WoS:

CEZGS hasn't closed yet, and there may be a few more releases before the final Captain 'S' remake one. [...]

The webmaster karnevi became tired and disenchanted with the project a few while ago, recently left the forums, and he wants to separate the coding group from the main webpage: CEZ (computeremuzone.com). That's why he's closing it soon.

But most developers and artists feel good working together as usual and didn't want CEZGS to be closed (the announcement was a shock for us too), so we'll be forming another group to keep developing games. The name and domain is still undecided. So don't worry, under one name or another, more games will be coming!.

As for the shop, we'll soon make tapes for the new games, to sell them in the next RetroMadrid, and the virtual shop will probably be open for a little while, but after most of those tapes have been sold, the future is uncertain.

A few games will come out under CEZ GS label because they're at a very advanced state of production, and cassettes/cartridges will still be made for the next RetroMadrid fair. And about the next projects that will be released with the new group/groups, I hope that we will continue releasing cassettes and cartridges as we did with CEZ GS. I don't know if we'll still sell some CEZ GS products from the new group shop together with that group own productions, I guess it depends on the authors of each game to give permissions or not (To be honest, I don't even know if we'll have a shop for the new group, but I hope so).

As for the reasons why karnevi felt disenchanted, they're his and it's up to him to explain them if he feels doing so, all I know is that there was some internal tension between some members of the group, and it must be tiresome to deal with such a big group of people. For him, the dream is now over, although he wants to ensure a smooth transition instead of a sudden dissaparition.

Thanks Metalbrian.... I think working as a group you will hit bumps in the road eventually... such is life.

I really enjoy the quality of the games you guys put out there, they feel well tested and developed with the gamer in mind.

All of the titles for MSX:
- Stratos
- BeTiled!
- Phantomas Saga Infinity (With Karoshi)

(yeah I did a : select distinct gamename from romdb where company like'%CEZ GS%' Tongue )

It would be sad if game development would be halted indeed.

I am too old to enjoy games properly anymore, but I must say you guys really did nice MSX games!!!

I have wished many times, that there will be the day when you do again co-operation with Karoshi (or some other group) to release multi-platform games like Phantomas Saga Infinity!! Smile I was really happy to see it again that there is published same game for "all" popular 8-bit computers, just like in the 80s and this time MSX was within those computers, not just that too familiar Spectrum, Commodore, Amstrad.... this time Commodore was left out!!!!!!!! Tongue LOL! ....And MSX conversion was not straightforward Spectrum port! Smile Thanks for that Karoshi and CEZ!! Big smile

Hope we can see such multi-platform games again some day in near future!!!! Smile

And more MSX games from CEZ or whatever name you may use. Smile

by the way, if you are gonna continue making games, and you are still making all those cassettes and cartridges by yourself, I guess it won´t be too big thing to keep maintaining some sort of shop. It won´t need to be that same page, if you feel that maintaining a shop takes too much time, I have to say that (to me at least) shop can be just black&white page which looks like windows notepad and orders can be sent to some email address. That is a shop to me. Smile

regards,
happy betiled! special edition cartridge owner Wink

The MSX had no market in UK, and Commodore had very little market in Spain, where MSX was more popular, so Commodore being left out was the usual case with spanish games, and many MSX versions of games developed outside Spain were done by spanish coders.
