...but the other way around. So, your cannon on the right and the enemy tanks advancing from the left.
If you'd lose, the enemy would raise a 'Jolly Roger' (skull and bones) flag on your base.

Thanks Bastiaan, but that's not the one. You could only move up or down in the game which I'm looking for.

I think you mean Beach Head, judging from your description: http://www.generation-msx.nl/msxdb/softwareinfo/2779

Don't let the screen shots fool you because it has several stages, one of it being with a tank driving to the left IIRC. In the level after it you can "storm" the bunker. If you succeed to take it down you can see the flags you are talking about if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks Randam, I've played Beach Head and it's not the one, unfortunately...
There was only that game mode where your cannon would move up/down to shoot the tanks, level after level.

go play Panther. I'm sure it's not the game you're looking for (tanks go from up to down and there's no pirate flag). But, maybe it's actually more fun than your elusive game

I'm mainly looking for it out of nostalgia. It's most probably the first video game I ever played, somewhere between 1982-1984, from tape.

Panther looks like fun. Thanks.

Hey John. Reading your forum entry I some way had to think of this violent MSX game: Pill Box One of the most violent games from our youth. ;) I know it has no tanks, but maybe your mistaken or forgotten. Anyhow reading your desxription I had to think of this game. So better to mention it. Unfortunately it is probably not the game your searching for.
