I think many groups went to MSX fairs with trains. Coming from Groningen you started to see other people carrying those Philips Monitors on the trainstations. At Tilburg some parts of the trains were full of MSX users. I remember seeing Anne walking around with 2 color monitors with a bag of (I think) disks around his arm, hurrying to catch the next train to Tilburg... those were the days indeed... Most times, the fair started long before the doors of the fair hall opened. |

Yeah the trip to such an event isn't the same anymore and never will be. We went to Bussum by train this year and I hardly doubt if that will happen again. No nostalgic feelings, just a trip which took too long. Though we had some fun during the trip So next year I'll probably go by car. Then it's also possible to take a shitload of hardware with us for the Near Dark boot |

well in those day we all were students(ok, most of us) and we in holland were able to travel free by train as a student.
Now we all grown up and most of us are no students anymore but hard workers and we have our own car.
but i wish i could be back in time to the time we were students, I realy liked those days waling with stuff to Zandvoort and Tilburg

I used to be a student as well. I remember one of my first visits to a Tilburg MSX fair. It took me and my companion almost 1 1/2 hours to get from Hengelo to Deventer. The railways claimed that was because of: a) leaves on track b) sign failure c) everything. We did manage to get there and enjoy the fair for a few hours, but I'm glad all other fairs I attended went a lot more smoothly in the travel department .
And the second Bussum party I hauled around with way too much stuff. Something I (well, my spine actually ) regret until this day.
Trains missing stations is also a favourite part of Bussum by train . 'Do I need this train?' 'Yes' ... '{moderated}! Train taxi for me... AGAIN!' .
Anyway, I will attend Oss2k5 as well (write another Realtime Article of course) but I still don't have a clue wether I will go by car or by train. Well, you should see me turn up somehow . |

Aah, take the train to Bussum ZUID, not Naarden-Bussum . The one which leaves at :24 and :54 from Utrecht, not the one at :15 and :45 ^_^...
See, it's not hard .

Wanted: companionship (m/f, preferrably f) for sharing Nostalgic Feelings when going off to an MSX fair in Oss. Saturday January 22nd, 2005.
Would this work out in the local newspaper? |

@Grauw: Well maybe you missed that bit (or I wasn't clear enough in my previous post) but I asked one of the Railway poeple which train I needed to get to Bussum Zuid. I asked again (and again!) to be sure and got on. Then we passed Bussum Zuid .
Maybe I also need to inform you this mishap took place on a day when a severe train accident took place near Gouda, so things were a -bit- unclear to begin with. Oh and I didn't leave from Utrecht but from Amersfoort, since I come from the East part of the Netherlands .
I know it's not hard, I know perfectly well how to get in Bussum Zuid. If only the trainpersonell could think properly in time of crisis .
@[D-Tail]: Sorry for me not being a cute female, but I'm sure we could get along as far as the Nostalgic Feelings bit is concerned. Bye the bye, what time does the dinner party end? Seems handy to know that if I were to get back by train again . |

@BHR: You know, the first train from Nijverdal leaves Saturdays from 0800AM, so I don't think you'll be able to reach Apeldoorn before 0900AM. As I'm trying to get in Oss early on, I don't think it's really possible... :/
Ha well, I'll only bring an A1ST w/ color monitor and stuff with me... I have to change trains once, so I think I'll manage |

@[D-Tail]: Okay, good luck protecting your spine while hauling around your stuff then . Better this way anyway: coffee available on Dutch railwaystations is generally good, but hugely expensive so I -might- not be very fun to talk with the first few hours of the yournry .
See you all in Oss!
Oh and it's not 08:00 AM but 07:45 AM or 08:15 AM (I forgot?! damn, I hope I don't get to sit there and watch random idiots cheking garbage bins again while waiting for the train to arrive ).
I will NOT bring my turbo R with me if I decide to go by train. That machine is too dear to me. I will bring my 8245 and that LCD screen instead. |
