1) What's difference between the Quarth Demo cartridge and the full version of the game ?
2) Are there any other Konami demo versions except Solid Snake and Quarth ?

The cartridge was hand made, it had no label, there is a Japanese adverticement text at start and end, numbering in levels goes up to "A" instead of "9" and there is only 4 stages I think.

Maybe someone else has noticed more than I have. I have played this cartridge only about 5min. (But it was original and on real MSX ))

The demo version has:
  • 4 stages in stead of 10 (counting from 0)
  • the numbering in levels goes up to 'B' in stead of '11' (really, if you advance far enough you'll see a '11' coming up in the full version)
  • always starts with what to do in stead of with the game
  • you can't select the music in the configuration menu
  • the pause has no Konami logo covering the action part

You can consider the Nemesis 2 beta version a demo version as well. I have a funny feeling there is some kind of demo/beta of F1-Spirit too, since the back of the box shows a slightly different game screen.

10x a lot for answering.
I am asking about Quarth because I can't found the disk version of the game that:

a) can run on a 128K RAM computer
b) loads entirely into memory at boot time. (I want to load the game via tape).

The versions I saw either works on 256K (in fact, just 128+16=144) MSX only,
or needs 128K but accesses disk to switch between one of two remaining 16K blocks.

If there is no trick that can make the full version of Quarth fit 128K, I think I'll try to make a disk/tape version of Quarth demo that will fit the memory.

There is also a Pennant Race 2 Sample cartridge. The game is unplayable, but shows a demonstration of a 2 player game.

Hmm... To be honest, I'd like to see that one one day.

I recently discovered something in the Quarth demo. It contains almost full version of Quarth (releases all 10 stages in stead of 4 and activates the end demo). All other things listed in a previous post are still valid.

And no... I will not reveal how to release these things in the demo version!

As usually, something like inserting another cartridge in the second slot, right ?
(or pressing some magic combination of keys, yeah ?)
Well, don't say, you promised, I know.

Well, it's not with a second cartridge. The full version has no combination options either, so that's definately not it.

No key combination either.

If you are talking about using the demo cartridge as is, and it's not 2nd cart (even gamemaster), I have only one wild idea - something should be set or loaded into memory before running the demo cart, or some periferal device should be connected to MSX.

It can't be switchable from the demo itself.

My guess is it needs a conditional jump to be unconditional, or a jump needs to be NOP'ed out.

There's a King's Vally 2 (MSX2) Demo Cartridge too. You can select 4 different MSX magazines (each magazine gets its own levels from the game?) and a different background.

That is not a demo cartridge. It's the prize the people won with their entry that is incorporated inside the cartridge. The magazines you can choose from are the ones who were involved in organizing the contest.

So, BiFi, tell us the secret - how do you enable the full game in Quarth demo ?
