SD Snatcher Intro Song

Hi, I need help once again...

I've also been working on the intro song from SD Snatcher last few days, but my arrangement somehow sounds weird compared to the original... but I can't find any offkey notes... Only difference is that I use full chords, but that's with a really soft synthpad. It doesn't sound that bad, but still... different...

Can some of the SD snatcher experts listen for a sec? (quick and dirty recording, so don't blame me for midi delays etc)

www.spiresound.nl/music/sdsnatch.mp3

or is it just me being too paranoid

I don't know how the original song sounds (shame on me, but SD-Snatcher is currently underway from Japan, so I'll know in a few weeks), but your version sounds good to me
Nice song !

Hm, I hear what you mean. The original is a bit more agressive, I think. A bit more 'spot on'....Nonetherless, a very cool tune, Bart!

it's not in the mastering stage yet, far from it even! ... so I haven't gotten into adjusting volumes of the separate channels... it's still mainly a 'melody' issue what I'm concerned about

then again, it doesn't have to be an exact copy of the original ofcourse

Uh, melody is just fine, isn't it?! I just like the arrangement to have a bit more tension, vibrato and agression......

Don't get me wrong, love it already!

the melody yes, but it's about them damn chords... konami uses a drone bass (i think you call it that way) which makes it confusing to determin the chords being used

In lamers terms, they bass stays in the same key (well, not EXACTLY cause it's not a constant bass) but the chords DO vary... ahhwelll difficult to explain... TOO difficult

Maybe Wolf knows what I mean.

Actually I did play it before (I remember now), I got it from funet and used it with a switchable cartridge.

But I never played Snatcher before I do have it, but it's in new condition, with a never opened box And I'm not the one that will open it

imho, it didn't grab me by the balls like the original did.

SCC tones are small static waveforms.. synth/keyboard presets are big evolving sounds, soaking in reverb and chorus.. it sounds nice on a synth (esp. in the shop), but the music of sd-snatcher wasn't made with these sounds.
About the bassinstrument: it's way too clean and low. SCC basses always have plenty of high-frequencies in it, because of the lo-fi nature of the SCC.

Get analogue-style sounds, and hit F5 to continue!
