As far as I'm concerned, they can keep their money if it makes them happy.

No, that doesn't make them happy. It makes them swindlers.

Anyways, the Woei demo is almost finished, it just needs some finishing touches. It *should* be released this evening Also, taking a small break from Bombaman felt good too. Plus, I never did real demo coding before so I learned some new nice tricks as well I can probably use some in Bombaman too.

And for those who are interested in seeing how things were done, the sourcecode will be released as well!

Hey Arjan, I just had an idea... How about making a small text that we will distribute along with the demo? In this text we could do some Making Of Woei stuff (it should be relatively fresh since we started on it this week and will end it this week) and explain the tricks we used... How about it? Other people might actually learn a bit from it

If you feel that way about it, then maybe you should try to gather some other people and voice your complaints or so. Just complaining won't solve your problem. And like Arjan said, there's some work being done in the background on this, so don't give up all hope yet!

I'm not complaining about the FD, but about people who seem to condone the fact that FD got money from subscribers but didn't deliver. THAT's the whole point. And I don't mean you. Hell, I'm not even a subscriber. Perhaps I'm a principled person.

Woei being a product of experienced professionals, your best will be good enough

Whoa, Arjan, did you get that? I never expected that GuyveR800 would call us professionals

On a sidenote: I agree with Guyver... do your best and it's always good enough!! Don't get frightened and think 'hey, I cannot do this', just relax and make something cool!

I can imagine more experienced coders finishing a demo first and demotivating less-experienced coders by the effects they used. As said earlier in this thread the thing is to make it and to learn new things with it. I think if you made even a very simple demo but you have learned a lot while making it, you should be proud of it.

(man I do realize my tone is way different than I first posted in this thread. For the better I'm sure...)

Well, I enjoyed the Woei demo. That's what it was all about during the early 90's: show others what you can do with some very limited bunch of silicon (but a very clever bunch of silicon, mind you!).

One remark though. As it is clearly based on a yell by a certain Sesame Street character, I'm wondering: is it really "woei" or "hoei"? Now that's what I call an important subject for debate!

I think it was changed to 'woei' to prevent lawsuits

I have it that some sources are dedicating part of their scrolltext to this very subject... so maybe we will find out there

hmm we really thought it is 'Woei!', but a lot of other people think it's 'Hoei!'. But the last time I watched Sesame Street was err, a long time ago so blame the grey cells if I'm wrong

bifi, I still learned new thing from this Also I still feel this demo could be done better (ie there's room for more effects, or better effects especially for the scroller). Also, you can still create impressive demo's in Kun-Basic!

These always room for new effects. But it's your first logo and scroll demo so you may be proud of it anyway.
