why charge anything more than 1 euro... we all know the game will spread as a copy on this planet faster then I can say 'cheesecake'

But on the other hand, since the marked for msx softs is small the price should atleast compensate that a bit. Well, why should we make MSX soft? for fun!? not the money, get a job for that.

ofcourse it's nice if you can have dinner after the fair with money made by selling your product

Well, it's not 'for the money', it's just a price someone pays for a product that's worth it.

If a game is 'worth' 20euro (based on quality, size etc.), would you pay 20euro for it then?

btw, Ro, didn't you SELL Oracle, years ago, and didn't you get a nice guitar back for that?

As widely discussed in different threads already, piracy on MSX doesn't seem to be as rampant as before, so there's no need for pessimism.

wolf: euh.. no?! where did ya get that idea...
I sold ORC to sunrise and would get some amount of money for every copy sold.. well, as I know you are inteligent enough... you'll never get a desent guitar for that. (atleast not the ones I got)

I dunno, I've never asked much for my software.. dunno, I do it for fun. (remember muzax series... only 2.50 guilders. wasn't worth a penny more.. )

.. but I do, however, agreee when it comes to pay by the hour. And I would, yes, surely pay up some serious dobe for a good msx project. hell yeah...

and Guyver: don't be naief like me. I really don't believe in ppl not copying the hell out of a new project. I do it too. shame on me

hmm thought you said something like that, 'bout the guitar.. never mind. My original point was: "if a game is worth playing, it's worth paying" hmm that uhm rhymes..

It's simply a fact!
If you ask people on IRC or in real life: "hey, can I copy that from you" they reply "buy one yourself!" in stead of "sure, here you go" like in the old days.
Ofcourse it only counts for MSX products
And in the scene there are still some pirates (and pirate sites), but it's far from common!

The Revival is in our hands we are the users !
with out a user there's no need for a development

And the msx scene still lives!

not like 1987 when nemesis 2 came on the market

i think emulation will have a big part in a revival!

i get inspired when im playing old msx games!

i wanna make a new game nemesis 4 resurection

with grafics of nemesis 1,2,salamander and nemesis 3 that are remasterd so that they look good on the v9990.

thanx to emulation i can capture msx gfx and change them

looks perfect!

Don't you think funet should be closed down to help with the revival?

Why is msx magazine in japanese only? Why is project egg site in japanese only? It would be easier to pay for the games and download them if the site was in english.
Will msx revival happen in japan only?

The problem is that the MSX-Association has acquired only for Japan the copyrights on the MSX-BIOS and the MSX-BASIC that remain, for the rest of the world, in the hands of Microsoft ....
As Microsoft is only interested by promoting his Xbox, I presume that we must still wait a long time for the MSX revival outside Japan ....

So, what you are saying, is that because of microsoft there will be no msx revival in any part of the world except japan? So all the new software for the new msx will be in japanese and to buy a new msx after the iminent revival I will have to import it from japan?

Yes, because of the Microsoft attitude, the MSX revival will only be a hobbyist thing outside Japan.

Actually, it's not really new : you have no European MSX 2+ or Turbo-R and only import has brought these exclusive Japanese machines outside Japan ...

If you look at the recent news, than you can see that MSX-Association / ASCII sells only in Japan the MSX Game Reader (to insert MSX cartridges in a PC), but also gives all technical info to build your own Game Reader ... it's a sign that outside Japan, the MSX Revival will be limited to the fans and won't have commercial perspectives on a great scale

Well, there might be some things coming you don't know about yet... Just you wait .

As for Funet closing, that is totally out of the question. As for Funet having to remove part of its MSX-related content... Well... if you keep giving it attention like this someone of important might actually notice, and decide to do something about it. Konami for example is know to be very strict in its copyright policies. Would that make you happy? Bet not, so be wise and don't bring it up as it barely adds anything of value to the discussion anyway.
