I recently acquired the MSX2 game Daiva Story V in its original form. It has a nice manual with instructions on how to play, backgrounders to all the characters, explanations for the different "stories", etc.
Unfortunately, all the text is in Japanese, and I'm just a humble gaijin.
I'd be willing to spend some time scanning the manual if someone out there who speaks Japanese would be willing to translate it. If this information already exists on the web in some form, I'd love to read it. But if not, this may be an opportunity to provide something new to the non-Japanese MSX community. Daiva is a great game, but its mechanisms are not always clear, and the back-history that explains the game looks interesting.
Email me or respond to the thread if you're interested.

That's nice! Randam recently translated Daiva 4 as well as Daiva 5 to English and they are planned to be released somewhere in the near future... I don't know if there's much text in the manual, but if there isn't, I think I can find the time to translate it for you. I think I'll be able to summarize it anyway (lack of time, haha).
Unless you want to make use of my professional translation service, but that would become quite an expensive English manual I guess |

The way to activate the bomb in Daiva 5 is easy. Select a sector (1-4) in which to throw the bomb. Then destroy all sectors during the planet battle except the one you chose to throw the bomb. When time reaches 0, the bomb will be dropped and that sector will be cleared automatically. There's one catch though. If you let the bomb destroy a sector, the resources for that planet will be reduced bij more points than it would if you conquered it yourself. So try conquering the entire planet without the help of the bomb. It'll save you money and resources in the end.

Hmm, okay. I was expecting something a bit more... explosive.
Now, does anyone know what particular action opens the link to Nirsartia? And then, how would one go about initiating a planet battle? My fleets just disappear when they move there.

It's probably a neutron bomb then |

Nope not a neutron bomb. If the path to Naasatya (Nirsatia is not the right pronounciation, eventhough T&E soft uses it) is already open, you should raise the Tech level of the planet just before it to 9. Then your fleet will be outfitted with new style OM guns. Without them you can't get past to the planet.

Then what do you think is the correct one? Coz 'naasatya' seems like a fine (romanized) kana representation of 'nirsatia' to me.
One could be temped to pronounce 'nirsatia' more like 'nur-say-sha' but that would be their problem |

Nirsatia is a 'bad' romanisation; I say this because Naasatya is a name for a god (like many others are).

Somehow during the course of my conquest of the galaxy the link opened.
Now, at this point I have a fully-equipped fleet with weapons at 9, and I have raised the technology level of the entire galaxy to 9. All the planets are blue, except Nirsartia. There is one enemy fleet flitting about. But I still can't send my fleet down to Nirsartia; it just disappears every time I try.
Help? |

A few years later, I'm going to re-open this thread...
I never did figure out how to get a fleet onto the planet Nirsartia / Naasatya. No matter what the tech level of the adjacent planet (Matur), the fleet is eliminated and I see the following message:

Does anyone know the precise steps for landing a fleet in Nirsartia? If so, can you share it? |

the way to finish Daiva 4:
Step 1: make a system of colonies (be sure to have quite a few).
Step 2: bring all fleets together to Star system Emina; you get a new type of OM guns
Step 3: Gain control over all starsystems except system 24: Matur. Make all of them into colonies.
Step 4: Capture star system 24: Matur in December and make it into a colony; The route to Nirsartia will open (only in December!)
Step 5: Raise technical power of system 24: Matur to 9; Gamma 3 is completed.
Step 6: Invade star system Nirsartia.
As you can see you can do something wrong so you won't ever get the end demo

Note: not a double post; but a similar one!
How to clear Daiva 5:
Step 1: make a system of colonies (be sure to have quite a few)
Step 2: bring all fleets together to Star system Bleeder; you get a new type of OM Ships

And some other fun things to know:
Enter Super Laydock Mission Striker in slot 1 and Daiva IV in slot 2 and see: not only konami came up with the idea of cartridge combinations
Wardata from all the daiva games (X-1, MSX, MSX2, Famicon, PC98 etc); commander of the 6th fleet varies because of this code:
Story 1: IMESPCNOHAREBMBHPH
Story 2: CIMSUHSOAQGKMKKFKU
Story 3: BNPUIHDYFBANIZTTRR
Story 4: KGUOXHXYEDJMWJJITI
Story 5: KENHYFTPHRPJDFQNTU
Story 6: NGDRLKQDTRRHDXJCLX
Story 7: GDPOYOWAKQNCVIEWAZ
Daiva 4 also accepts LAYDOCK as wardata: after you enter this you get a demo for Super Laydock mission striker
That about raps up the spoilers for this game...
Only the invincibility trick for daiva 4 remains but that one is common knowledge.

Just tryed the 2 carts trick with bluemsx, but I didn't see anything special. It seems I have to give my real MSX some power |
