The MRC will introduce a cool competition within a week, be patient, you'll like it!!

(btw: you _REALLY_ want to make an MSX RPG, don't you?? )

Yeah! And MSXdev'03 game development competition deadline is coming! By the 1st of December all games should have been finished, and I guess that on 15th of December the results will be ready, and of couse, all the games to download and test! I should be a white-MSX-christmas!

Kind regards,

Ed Robsy

sure ... but that's offtopic

[offtopic] It's all about raising the bars, atm you could say that games like SD-Snatcher, Xak123, DS6, MG2 etc. are the best games on MSX .. I'm optimistic enough to at least *try* to do something equal or better I think the main bottleneck is in the artwork, the code is hard aswell, but when looking at the top RPGs on msx you could say that they all work the same (in terms of code), but one looks, sounds better and has a better story than others..
[/offtopic]

@pitpan: introduce smaller compos (not a complete game) and you'll have more attenders (so: just a tree, a sprite etc.). This way you could do something each month, instead of once a year.

Hello.

In my humble opinion, the MSXdev'03 game development competition is one of the best ideas to join MSX users together. Maybe just a few users will code something, but I'm sure most of us will talk about it, download the games, and will think that there are still good projects going on, a MSX SCENE.

To code smaller programs is also a big idea. The most important thing is to keep doing things. A lot -a lot- of people can code little games for the competition since we had a lot of time; for this competition we are not asked for creating a new Metal Gear, SD Snatcher or any other important project - it's just a 8, 16 or 32k game for MSX1! a little game for fun. It could be a Pong, Super Snake or whatever.

Good idea the MSXdev'03 game development competition and good idea the MRC Snowfall Challenge. I hope these challenges/competitions keep going on and more and more people get involved into them.

What about a graphics competition in SCREEN 2 and/or SCREEN 5? What about a PSG music composition?

I just wanted to make my point of view clear. The more, the better. I just hope we don't criticize any of these projects and, if you have time enough, code something with your MSX, just for fun.

Bye.

I fully agree with dioniso.. We are planning to introduce more competitions in the future, and hope other people/sites will, too. But, one (or two) at a time should be enough, I think.

Sure, it's not a good idea if we have a game competition, a graphics competition, a music competition and a 'snow' challenge the same month ...

As soon as MSXdev'03 finishes, I will enter to SNOW competition. It seems interesting, and also more complex than simple drawing contests. I like the idea, and I will fully support it, if I am able to do something good enough.

Kind regards,
