3 months ago Team Bomba released a promo for their upcoming game Bombaman, which you can download here.

On January 17th this game will be released on the Oss fair 2004. If you like, you can already pre-order the game at the Bombaman website.

I might have asked this question before (don't remember), but euhm... what do you think of the promo? What did you like? Have you tried the multiplayer version? Check it out and let us (and thus the developers) know your findings.

First of all, lemme tell you this: the promo is nowhere near as good as the complete game! Lots of changes have been made lately (and still are being made), so expect some cool stuff Okay, let's switch to normal mode: there's still a (tiny) bit of time left to tell us your opinion before the release! This way we can try to improve things you didn't like about the promo, so... this is basically your last shot to help us improve Bombaman

It is without any doubt a superb piece of work. And Sunrise is very proud that team Bomba offered us the possibility to sell at a fair price.
People had to shame itself by waiting , hesistating etc now there is finally upcoming new software . I donot mean demo's in this case

Tried it, liked it (very much!). It's one of the most promising upcoming game with TVSP I think.

BTW, stage one was already very difficult for me, but I s**k at pretty much any game anyway

Nah, that's problably not the problem After that promo was finished, you should have heard our level designer berating himself for not properly testing the levels He made those levels in a bit of a hurry, and didn't test them well enough, and if I remember his words well, the promo is practically unfinishable

I was very suprised with the game. Excellent quality and gameplay. I tested it with 3 friends in multiplayer mode. Although there was some things that take evidence that the game is not finished yet, it gave us a very good impression. I will buy the game for sure.

However, there is one thing that I miss so much, and it is the clasical song of Dynablaster/Bomberman multiplayer battle. This should be a must! I'm talking about this song: http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/snes/sbomb-multi.mid

Ok, the midi do not have so much quality, but it is to get the idea of the song that I'm talking about. I wrote to the Team Bomba about it, and they said that I could be possible to add this song to the multiplayer mode melodies. It will be wonderful if it is. ^^

Anyway, I will buy the game, regardless of this detail

As I told you bobazz on devcon'03 before, I was VERY much impressed with the smoothe animations and game play. The GFX are well done, and so are some tracks I've been listening to (DL'ed) Need I say more?

Humm... eehh... well... I've been thinking about it some more lately, and I'm in doubt if it's wise to include this song. Technically there's no real problem (the song is easy to cover), but... because it's copyrighted material I'll probably not use this song. We made an effort to reduce the amount of copyrighted/ripped stuff in the game (a very early version I found back recently only had ripped gfx!) to a minimum, and including new but copyrighted stuff doesn't sound like a good idea.

Awell, guess I'll make up for it with yet another multiplayer song that's a bit in the same style

Yup, same here.
I thought the Bombaman promo was one of the best looking MSX games I've ever seen(Tested on NMS8250 MSX2).

Well ....

I see all you agree with the great looking of this game.

Anyway, what do you think about the playability/control of Bombaman?

Well... that's not so good... for me at least... Bombaman is not my type of game.
I like action games more than puzzle games.

But for a puzzle game it is about the best I've ever played
There was an other puzzle game on one of the Peach-Up disks that I liked better, but the graphics of that one didn't came near the Bombaman gfx.

Greetings.

After the release of this promo, I suggested to improve the controls a bit, which Team Bomba did. I also heard the levels in the promo were quite a lot below the quality of the final product. I'm looking forward to the final version and have no doubt that it will be one of the better 'amateur' MSX games to date.
