Come on guyz, we've had it up to here (pointing at chin) with the way people keep ending up into conflicts at the MRC. The forums are about MSX, not about kicking each others teeth in. J-War: I understand you intended it as a joke, but there was little point in re-opening a topic like this which has been silent for more than 6 months now. Things were bound to get messy again (come to think of it, we should have locked the thread, but still...). Evulopah, I think the last thing we needed after all the fuzz we had on the MRC recently was throwing some oil on the fire. Intentional or not. GuyveR800, I really don't see the point in reacting as strongly as you did either. As far as I see D-Tail wasn't trying to make you look like the agressor, yet asked you and all other visitors to put this discussion aside and not letting things escalate any further. He could have done it differently (e.g. by not adressing you first), but that doesn't change the intentions he had with his post. I hope you can understand MRC moderators aren't perfect. Especially not the new and young ones (pokes D-Tail). To make things extra clear: I don't think you're the agressor in this one, GuyveR.

(and now I turn to everybody reading this

Look, we're all just trying the best we can to keep the MRC a nice place to be for as many MSX-minded people as possible. The MRC fora are a unique place for keeping in touch with the MSX community in a positive way, for starting, discussing and supporting new developments, for getting support with problems with hardware and software et cetera et cetera. But despite everything we try to keep the discussions as relaxed as possible, trying to work around personal indifferences, we often end up in similar discussions on a personal level over and over again. Some people even tend to blame the MRC for allowing those situations to arise, others think we're moderating way too much as it is already.

I think the time has come to -really- start taking each other's personalities and feelings into account instead of trying to lure people into reacting out of emotion, ending up in the same fights ever again. Let me quote a few bits from the forum policies:

Be nice to other people on this site

Be careful with sarcasm. It is often misunderstood, especially by people who aren't as good in English as you are

Respect the fact that there are people who don't share your opinions

Don't bring your own opinion as if it is the one and only truth

Please keep in mind, that the opinions and reactions on postings and in the forum, reflect those of our visitors, not those of msx.org.

If only people lived up a bit more to these very simple rules, we would all get along a lot better. If you don't like someone there's no point in expressing those feelings all the time. There's no point in trying to annoy him (or her) consistantly with messages that get past the moderators but don't have friendly intentions. There's no point in assuming everyting someone says has bad intentions either. The MRC will not get a nicer place by doing that, and that certainly is not contributing to the amount of fun it is to be an MRC admin, webmaster, moderator or translator. Please try and be the better half in such situations and try to evade conflicts rather than to cause/escalate them. You are always free to contact us or use the moderator alert whenever you feel attacked. We are here to listen to your suggestions.

Now, can we -please- start talking about MSX again? Thank you!

Where the hell can I find those forum policies anyway? You're not referring to http://www.msx.org/policy.html are you? I heard some policies mentioned earlier which I also haven't been able to find in that document. So I guess there's some other text... Can you tell me where it is?

Not in here, so if you want fights you have to go somewhere else.
