Hi Folks,
I recently got hold of the OutRun.ROM file, the OutRun version being the MSX2 by Pony Canyon. The problem i am having is getting the bugger to work! I load it up under fLSX and the emulator keeps reseting! Anyone have any ideas why OutRun doesn't appear to be working? I have fMSX 2.3 on the Amiga.
Thank you in advance, |

1) Probably the rom is not supported by your fMSX version.
Try a newer version of the emulator.
2) It is possible that you didn't set the correct parameters for the emulator ?

Thanks you for the reply,
1) That is the answer that i fear the most. Trouble is though, the fmsx version i have got is the last one i can find, i remember seeing version 2.3 beta 2 but i can't find it anymore. Could anyone else find it? Also another trouble is that emulator support on Amiga is lousy compared to PC and MAC, so at the moment it's only fMSX, AmiMSX or DarkNES (which has MSX on it).
2) What are the correct parameters for it? I am emulating an MSX 2 with 1mb RAM.

I don't really know the exact parameters...
I used fMSX about 6 years ago, but I can only remember that there were many possible parameters. Check the readme...
I don't know if there's a more recent version of fMSX.

Okay i will do that. Shame i can't do no more than that. The only other option is if i can find that beta 2 version.

The DOS and Windows versions of fMSX require an option to be passed for each ROM file to specify its type. In the case of OutRun it's either a ASCII 8K or ASCII 16K type. Try finding information about ROM types in the manual.

I'm very surprised to see that the message of GuyveR800 is moderated. There was no link to warez for example in this message. Is the MRC team going to be crazy ?
EDIT : I see that the original message of GuyveR800 is back. It's a good point ! |

Tried fMSX out yesterday. And Outrun now works! I had to use the ASCII 8K option. Very nice OutRun conversion, a typical MSX game. Although it is a little too fast for me
