16MB laptop DIMM in a 8250?

UnregisteredPosted: March 01 2004, 12:46
Hi!

Is it possible to use a 16MB laptop DIMM in a 8250?
The DIMM consists of 8 chips of 2MB (I think) so if the DIMM is not usable, can I at least use one of the memorychips? And if yes; how?

I vaguely remember some article about using a 4MB SIMM in a 8250 but I can't find it anymore... Tips, anyone?

Grtz,

Using a 4 MB SIMM in a NMS8250 is designed and described by Hans Oranje.
You can find the document in dutch at www.hansoranje.demon.nl and in english at www.hansotten.com in the MSX Info pages - Whats new - Hans Oranje pages in english

It seems Hans Oranje has not updated this page since december 2002, a more recent page, updated in 2003, is at www.hansoranje.demon.nl

Thanx you all, that was quick!

Although I probably can't use this DIMM, I'm sure I can think of something (like cannibalizing my Atari Mega STE, which has 4x1MB SIMMs and I hardly use it anyway).

Thanks again!

Learn to type links please... And try to remember the difference between MSX.ORG and MSXNET.ORG.

It's pretty dumb if you say to someone http://www.hansoranje.nl is not updated, and then provide him with a link to http://www.hansoranje.nl with the label http://www.hansoranje.demonnl!

"I" is with a capital letter...

What I basically meant to get across, was that these URL errors are fairly obvious, which can be found by just checking your post ONCE. If you want to be helpful and in order to not send people on a wild goose chase, it's probably a good idea to be a little more thorough.

okay, 'nuff said. Lets focus on expanding memory in 8250's once again.

It would be cool to have a collection of these kind of memory expansions on a well-structured site!
