The aspect ratio is purely dependant on the horizontal width settings of your monitor.
Only TV's have a fixed horizontal width, but it differs for each model.
Some TV's are missing the leftmost ~20 pixels, some miss pixels on the left and right..
I wonder how you came up with the so-called 'original' screen aspect ratio.

I have _never_ been able to run disk images in MESS. I read a confusing text or two about using a DISK.ROM in a cartridge slot, but getting disk images to run on MESS seems even more work than getting openMSX to compile and run on an avarage Linux Distro |

I can see original MSX's screen with TV-Card on PC.
It can show the MSX's screen via A/V connector as 640x480 (320x240) fixel.
This is original MSX's screen from TV-Card on PC. (320 x 240)

This is MESS's screenshot by Print Screen key. (640 x 480)

Hey! That isn't hard at all! Install the libs and do the thang!
In the next release: install the libs, type "make" and then type "make install". Can't be hard, can it? |
