I wonder if there is some way to upload those manuals scanned, perhaps to downloads section (documents or images) of MRC... I know there are a few manuals scanned on internet but we can try to make a "database". (I'm only have the Penguin Adventure Manual).

I remember it was some post about publish Konami manuals here..... do you think there is some "legal" trouble to do this ?

Iīm not sure about the legal staff. But in my opinion companies wouldnīt like that maybe. I have one manual scanned (Hinotori) and Iīm looking for more in Internet. The best way to get them all is looking for them. I think itīs very risky to post them here in this web.
Any reply about this?

Apart from the legal issue, it takes a lot of time scanning these manuals (not to mention put them online somewhere takes quite some space). I don't think people would like to scan the manuals. Companies wouldn't like to see their manuals put online somewhere indeed. So even though I have 'a couple' of original Konami titles, don't look at me for scanning the manuals. Simply for the reasons mentioned above.

Well... it's only a post, I don't see that could be a problem for the web, just say "no" -but if the moderators prefer to delete this post... nevermind (sic)-

About the reasons given by BiFi, we can discusse again about the coptrights... I really can't see any issue scanning manuals made in 1985 : a few pages with some draws... I really can't imagine the problem. Yes, Konami keeps under strict copyright all their stuff, but I don't understand this rule with very old papers (?).

About the size and time that takes scan those manuals... about 5 minutes all pages, about 80 Kb per page (?) no problem again...

Nope, game manuals are still copyrighted and publishing those is therefore just as illegal as putting the games online for download. Nice idea, but I'm afraid it's a no-go.

Yep, that would be a problem. But I don't think there would be any objection to posting them on your own site (or one of a friend).

Ok, thanks to all anyway. But it's a pity.

If any of you wants the PA manual scanned, just send me a mail.

i have a load of intruction manuals from Konami games, one day I will scan and PDF them for download from a site, I'll let you know when this happens.

On a side note - a service manual is also copyright - has it caused problems? To be honest I cant see an almost 20 year old instruction manual - causing too many problems.

As stated above though it is illegal.

I don't know if MSX Info Pages had any problems with manufacturers when they were hosted there.

We simply can't run the risk, that's all. You can read our policies to know that we avoid (even publishing about) warez, and publishing ditigized copyrighted content without permission is the same category.

Says an MRC webmaster. And the translations I made I made as a Sargon-member. Two different groups with two different policies. And who says I did not get permission to make those translations?

I do.

I can't stand hypocrisy.
If you were talking as a MRC webmaster, you should have left it at your first reply to this thread. The MRC policy was made clear, period.
But no, after the discussion went into placing manuals on other sites than MRC, you still had to reply. And since you personally obviously do not have the highest morals (see the SELLING of CRACKED games) you are not the MRC webmaster who is best suited for discussing legal matters, IMO.

Thanks for your opinion. Let's not take this any further. My personal circumstances have little or nothing to do with me being an MRC webmaster. Every MRC crewmember knows and supports the MRC policies on MRC. My personal circumstances could for instance take this thread further in some useless but exciting discussion about this, but since I am an MRC webmaster, I think I better don't. Let's talk about it on Tilburg with a beer in our hands
