Hello all, I am new to this forum.
I recently bough a MSX 2 8250 but I seem to have some problems.
I only connected it via the SCART cable but the screen stays black ?
What's the best way to connect it to the TV ?
And what about the Audio output, it is only 1 ?
Do I have to split it to get stereo sound ?
This maybe sounds a bit stupid but I never owned one before hehe.
Thanks in advance!
Greetings Robert.

Check the cable, that way should work fine. Another way (but not the best) is by using the RF output and connecting it to the areal input of your tv. Quote:

Let me know if it works. A standard MSX produces only mono sound, welcome to the eighties. |

A black screen might also mean his TV doesn't support RGB signals through SCART.

do you only have that msx2, or do you also have music cartridges such as: fm-pac, music module?
If you have both of them, you can get a semi-stereo effect by connecting one chip left and the other one right on your amplifier. Then, with Moonblaster you can make semi-stereo music. For real stereo stuff, try to get a Moonsound somewhere.

You'll see there're already 3 interested ppl yet (is this still actual information btw?) |

If you did see the MSX logo appear and it turned black afterwards, try this when the screen is black:
Press the function key F6 (That's SHIFT+F1). You should be able to see stuff again then.
Next, type SET SCREEN and press the RETURN-key.
Hope it helps. |

Here's a game for ya:
10 N=INT( RND(1) * 10 ) + 1
20 INPUT "Which number between 1 and 10 am I thinking of";A
30 IF A < N THEN PRINT "The number I'm thinking of is bigger than";A : GOTO 20
40 IF A > N THEN PRINT "The number I'm thinking of is lower than";A : GOTO 20
50 PRINT "You guessed it!" : PLAY"T180 S8 M10000 O4 E8 E4 E4 D8 E4 C2 O5 C2"
60 END
Type it in, press RETURN after each line, then press F5 to play |

If you turn on the power, check if the powerled burns and if you here and see some diskdrive activity, if not, there can be more wrong.
