copy the files of the system disk to a directory on the harddisk. and type mls (return) to start the game.
The other disks can't be copied to harddisk.

My opinion is based on the appendix.
In japanese you find under idss par 2-1 the way how to act.
So, it is clear that is possible with the program described. Maybe it is not compatible with our IDE but it stands that it can be putted on HD

I believe running MLS from HD only works with the Japanese ATA-IDE cartridges, but I never gave it a real try. IIRC you have to create disk images of each disk with a special tool (which might be included), and put them in special directories. I believe even the partition size mattered. Takamichi tried to explain it to me one day, but halfway I thought 'ah well, I'll just run it from disk then'. |

By the way, I've seen in the home page of Sunrise that they are going to sell Moon Light Saga (see their price list). The japanese release came with manuals in japanese and three disks in a cardboard box:

How is Sunrise going to distribute this game? With manuals translated into English? Using a DVD box? With a new cover?
I think that this game deserves a good presentation. |

We sell it in the way the picture of the page of laurens shows.
The agreement was to leave it as original as it was.
So, the original box, the original manual plus appendix and a very good imitated label.
The intention is to translate later on as you know both game and manual.
But there is a but ... and that I cannot mention unfortunately, because I not gonna interfere in Japanese internal matters

About installing Moonlight Saga on IDE. I think it only works with the Japanese MSX-IDE and the Mega-SCSI interfaces. I have tried to make it work on CompactFlash, but did not manage to get things up and running so far.
Here's what to do.
1) Create 3 partitions of a size of 1MB (you might want to make that 720kB, not sure...)
2) Give them the volume names MLS-SYS MLS#1 and MLS#2
3) Enter the MLS System disk
4) With DIMAGE.COM (a disk image tool) do DIMAGE F: B: when F: is your floppy drive and B: the partition you want the MLS System disk
5) Repeat 3 and 4 with MLS disk 1 and 2, copying to the 2 other partitions
As I don't have DIMAGE.COM I tried to do the same with FDLOAD/FDSAVE. I managed FDLOAD to write a disk image to 1MB partitions, but after the intro-menu the game does not start (copyprotection). Perhaps it works with 720kB partitions and/or another Disk Image tool. If I get things working on my CF, I'll surely let you know.

There was a 2-part (I think) article about MLS in MCCM aswell.

I have tried again, and really think it's not possible to install Moonlight Saga on ordinary Sunrise IDE interfaces. Does anyone have DIMAGE.COM and knows if there's something special about it? Perhaps it bypasses the MLS copyprotection or someting...
