Hi!

I am looking for .ROM or .WAV (or .CAS) versions of Ultimate Games ... I have a few, but would love a complete collection that works on a Philips MSX with 48k RAM (+16k VRAM)... There are some versions of Pentagram, Cyberun, etc. on funet which are in separate files (.BAS, .001, .BIN , etc. files) but I cannot get them to load on the actual machine via the CAS: device... even if I change the basic so they should... .ROM or original .WAV/CAS would be best, but most Ultimate classics are not available like that.

Best regards,
Tomaz

As far as I know these games are still copyrighted. In essence, this is not the right forum to ask for a ROM or WAV/CAS file. (see our policies). However, maybe someone can explain how to create either a ROM image or a WAV/CAS file from separate files.

I tried... but none worked After the first .BIN is loaded I normally get a black screen (sometimes with LOADING gamename on the bottom) and some screen corruption and then it stops...

btw. snout - your 48k cartridge is working perfectly ! It was MSX's fault - I got another MSX - this time Philips VG-8000 (which has 16k VRAM and 16k RAM) and with this one (and your cart) I can get almost all casette games to work ! It seems the VG-8010 I had before had some problems
I also got a 16k Ram Cartridge - bought it on a flea market - it is especially made for Philips MSX computers. Unfortunetly it seems it adds 16k ONLY to VG-8000 computer (making it a 32k RAM/16k VRAM machine - as is 8010) but when connected to VG-8000 it doesn't give it 48k RAM as one would think but just stays at 32k So your 48k cartridge seems to work best - and with VG-8000.
I am still on the lookout for a MSX2 machine with a disk drive though... need to get one Wanna play all those good Konami games...

Tom-Cat: probably the 16k is added on page 2. The VG-8000 has the 16k in page 3, making a total of 32k usable. But the VG-8010 probably has the 32k in page 2 and 3, so adding the RAM to page 2 doesn't help...

Try to get "somewhere" the ROMs of that Ultimate games (I have seen NightShade, Gunfright, Knightlore and perhaps some others) and then use the tool WAVeR v.2, that automatically converts MSX game ROMs into WAV files without any further process.

You can download WAVeR v.2 from http://www.robsy.net/romconv.htm

Kind regards,

Ed Robsy

Hi!

Exactly that I did with only those roms I found ROM files of Alien8, Gunfright, NightShade and Knightlore and converted them with Waver .2 (which works fine with VG-8000 but doesnt work with my VG-8010 - again I suspect a fault in VG-8010 ). I was searching for ROMs for other Ultimate games but wasn't able to find them...

Best regards,
Tomaz
