How hard can that be? Just use the play data you're using to play the music in the first place... Sync your 'dance' data track (I assume it has something like that) to the step-counter of whatever replayer you're using... Again, timing needs to be about right, but it's not something that needs to be *that* accurate either... The only hard part I can think of with a game like that is the queueing and sequencing of the input data... Well, that plus all the arrow shit

Actually it's quite complicate. The arrows come from the bottom of the screen to the top,
and they should be on the top at a specific time, so it matches the music, alas giving the effect that you are dancing according to the music, if you do the right steps at the correct timing.

So, I need to get the correct timing to put the arrows on screen bottom, so they get on screen top at xxx time by moving by zzz speed. A small millisecond difference on that ends up screwing things on a 3,4 mins song when you reach the end.

Also, VDP seems to have different timings on different MSXs, and since my "ddr" uses a LOT of sprites (does not use amplified sprites like Tansu Tansu) and has a dancing penguin, it also changes the game speed...

So, the timing issues are: VDP speed (drawing lots of sprites and copying animations) + the arrow speeds sync'ed with the music... NOT an easy task =)

But now I am actually thinking on dumping the dancing penguin, and making like Tansu Tansu... would be a lot easier =)

Oh... and a screenshot of the "beta" I made =)

The penguin reacts to some arrow combinations, doing some dance moves =)

Slotman, if you are interested maybe we can talk about distribution of your game via us.
Maybe we can add some moonsound music as well.
Vincent, would you be so kind to exchange pictures with me of your adaptor

You can both reach me under sunhisan@euronet.nl

But wouldn't it be easier to synchronize on a per-step or per-track base? I assume you're using some kind of tracker-like music program. Have the replayer indicate which track is being played and have it send a signal on each step. Then make a small 'dance track' that indicates which step needs to be put on screen at what time. The dance track should just follow the same track/step settings of the music... You'll always have 'off' timing, but now it will be at most a few mili-secs since each track you re-sync... Well... Just my thoughts...

UNIX or Linux can't sue anyone, since they're operating systems and not companies or other people.
