Check this:

http://cgi.ebay.nl/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21084&item=5102241602&rd=1

I think this is happening because of the popularity of Metal Gear Solid 1 & 2 for the PSX game consoles...

Now more people want all those originals... Last week I saw Metal Gear in mint condition boxed and manual going away for 90 euro's....

I'm glad I have my original Metal Gear...

I'm pissed off that I didn't bought Metal Gear 2 on Zandvoort in '95 for 125 guilders (56 Euro)...

Now it's too late....

Your point?

I've seen higher prices for both MG and MG2...and SD-Snatcher too btw.

I wonder when it'll stop. Prices for Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, SD Snatcher and Snatcher are still on a very high level. Although I do have the idea they have been higher than they are now, indeed.

I think most of the MSX users who really really really wanted to have those games already have them by now, which probably explains why the prices are stabilizing now...

I pretty much have the originals I want including Metal Gear 2

There are some I would like to add, but luckily they are not that expensive.

Collectors will pay very, very much of the games that they want. It's not really a hobby if it doesn't take all your money.=) I've bought some of those msx/psx/c64 classics for very high price although I have all of them already as copies. And I don't even use the originals, don't want to damage them in anyway. I don't know what is it, but it's just great to own and show people those old&rare software/hardware masterpieces.
My wife and my friends don't get it, paying such a high price for 15 year old game, but they all seem to be somehow fascinated when I show them the collection of classics.

Rikusu, great deal you made. 10 more years, and it's 700euros...
I bought 12 complete konami games in near perfect condition for 12 euros, if you're lucky, sometimes you can find these great bargains in fleemarket.

A MG2:SS went for US$380 recently... More than a GT sold by the same seller!

I hate myself:

I traded my Metal Gear 2 (in a box with room for 3 disks: (SD) Snatcher case as Klaas de Wind, the Konami freak, once mentioned) for just a philips music module and a philips rgb monitor. The trader sold it for 125 guilders, which was exactly the price I payed a year before for metal gear 2. I think I should have kept it just 8 years longer. I'd be some richer then.

Really, I don't care if something is original or not. It doesn't give me anymore satisfaction or pleasure whilst playing a game. If it's a hobbyscenegame I'd be ashamed if I played a copy though...

Funny fact to Metal Gear 2 was that it played on 60Hz on an MSX2 as well...

Hopefully eventually collector's market will get saturated and prices will go down a little
