I wonder how many ppl are interested in coding demos and such.. I think games seem more fun these days.

I mean, frankly, many demo-effects are based on scrolling and screensplits.. (and some additional stuff with sprites and palette-cycling etc.) I think we've seen about every scroll-split-sprite-stretch-copper-wave-combination by now. The VDP (bus) is too slow for native effects that require that the whole screen can be updated at once.

Well I'm sure there are still some demos effects that can be done and haven't been done yet, Lit & Bandwagon brought some fresh air to the traditional demo stuffs you mentioned. I guess it's more a matter of inspiration and creativity... But getting to the level of those C64 or Atari demos could indeed be really really tough with the VDP bus limit... Probly with some screen 3/4 stuffs where it's possible to refresh an entire screen within one Vblank.

L!T and Bandwagon didn't start out on MSX, I think they just wanted to see what they could do with an MSX and move on. On their homepage you can read a statement about "we are demo makers, not 8-bit demo makers" or something with that meaning. Not getting any feedback is a good reason to move on faster, and that's what they did.

I think they would have gotten much more feedback now, if they would release someting here, with our gathered community like it is now.

Remarkable things can be done with the power of V9958 commands in Screen 3/4.
Nobody has done that yet, and WHY? I dunno...

Besides, I don't like those demo's where everything is pre-calculated. It just sucks... It's just about design then, not about code...

X=0:for n=0 to 255 : x=x+0.03 : pset(n,abs(40+(sin(x)*40))):next n
