It's already been done with quite a few Impact tunes...

Hmm, I don't think I have an opinion on this

I think, because it's 'the scene', you should ask the original authors if it's ok to do a remake. In the case of game music, the original author of the music is in most of the cases probably not reachable, but in case of scene music, you probably can somehow.

How do you feel if I was a talented musician and made a remix of one of your tunes without you knowing?

PS: I love to hear remakes of some classic scene tunes though! (Especially the impact tunes!)

I can think of a whole range of sceners who aren't around in cyberspace anymore .. maybe they will, some day.. but there're plenty of sceners that didn't extend their hobby to their profession, and are happily doing something completely different..

I wouldn't mind actually, as long as it's clear it's a remake ^^;

I think it's a REALY good idea.
Anyway maybe it would be wise to warn the original musician cause " scene " ppl tend to care a lot about their respective past and present creations

What Wolf? You mean like Cerror did with your "Contribution"? (http://www.cerror.tk/)

But I think it's the same with all scene-music/-covers. Don't rip malisciously, always credit/ask permission, have phun.
I made several remixes/covers of classic MSX tunes myself, though I've never released them. But I've seen plenty of other material floating around.

*found it*

... crappy quality

But to get back to the topic, I wouldn't mind.. and I wonder whether others would mind or not.. (or at least I wonder if they'd mind if the remake is done well..)

I've already made a few remakes of my own msx-songs... but i think it would be weird if somebody else would do a remake of them ... could be interesting though

I'd join in... All my tunes are grabable for this kind of thing and I myself might try some tunes of some musicians around here...

Already did 3 MOA tunes lately (with the man's explicit permission)

Funny

Might actually be some kinda challange, to remake some wellknown tune .. (r u reading this, SNOUT?).

It would however be the first challange not to be realised on a real msx ..

So, remakes of tunes which were used in the amateurscene I guess? Not the typical games from Japan things? How about providing an MP3 of the original with it as comparing material... That'd be nice...
