Poisonic remix of Metaltrance from Omega

Which in itself already was a remix/redo of the Metal Gear Theme.
Not really original, I'd say...

The title *does* say remakes does it..? not 'remixes'

The 'rules' were already described briefly some pages earlier, in which it said something like 'no covers'..

Hmmm... In general a remake is a remix, however, if you look at the definition of 'remix' very literally it should be something like: "creating another final mix with the original material"

In today's music (especially the dance/trance scene) what DJ's or producers call a 'remix' is actually a remake of the original song with different material, sometimes combined with original material.

So remake is make something from scratch based on the original work, and remix is being able to use old material?

Anywayz, in this case it's obviously heavily derived from the MG2 intro, but I'd say we first establish the rules properly before anyone goes on a remaking spree

(and don't get me wrong, i like gamemusic remakes/remixes )

The best definition of remake here would be: "do as we do already with games, but now pick scene-composers" That's all to it. When we do a game-remake we do make our own arrangement/instrumentation etc... same stuff here.

i think sampeling the original is weak by sampeling your stuck to tempo ect.
when using synths virtual stuf what ever you keep control this challeng now looks more like:

the sample original Scene music contest? where's the fun in that.......
magix acid 4.0

i tought copying others music was a crime........

i tought i t would be better to make a remix of a song with own content thats much more a chalenge

where is the fun to decode Crystal Trance in to a Mp3 an mix it????????

its more fun to create a song influenced by the melodies of scene music instead of rougly copy the wave into your editor to make a static remix.....

what if some one wanted to create a msx scene tune on his c64 would he be disqualified for that because he did not add samples of original work in it?

This challenge is NOT , I repeat NOT, about sampling the original, drop it in a wave-editor and soup it up with some effects, or sample it and add a drumloop to it. This challenge is about re-creating, covering, remaking -whatever you'll call it, a tune from some msx-scenecomposer. So, kinda like you pick your fave equipment/sequencer and you re-create the original song, note-per-note if you like, with your own arrangement/instrumentation..

Some stuff played manual, some stuff sampled straight from the jv1080 and edited it on high quality in soundforge to create 64kB samples for mbwave (left and right part => 128kB for each sample). I fill the 640kB I have with just one instrument. Then using about half mbwave's channels for each instrument.
Sample each part in soundforge adding some salt and pepper. Then mix it in vegas.

To avoid confusion, the basic rules in lamers terms:

- Do not use samples from the original song (i.o.w.: Do everything yourself )
- Original must be from MSX-Scene
- Original cannot be your own song

Like Wolf put it, like we already do/did with remakes from games...
