some idea but I dunno how feasible it is... I know that some games on the sega megadrive used prerendered 3d, then converted into sprites.
good examples of these games are sonic 3d blast and vectorman. Basically it was done in 3d first, then brought back to sprites.
Would that be something msx 2 or so could handle ? or has it been done before ?

As far as I know, it has never been done on MSX. But what I am doing will only apply to demo's, not in-game graphics. Rendering 16x16 or 16x24 is just to small. I talk about whole screen 5 pages that will be loaded very quick. We're still brainstorming about that.

ah sounds pretty cool ! well maybe the "3d" sprite idea is something msx2 or higher,
and dunno how well it survives with small sprites, but it could look nice.
So is this screen 5 stuff some real 3d stuff, or pictures with converted 3d images ?

Would not there be any bottlenecks from transfering data from ram to vram ?(since it is going to be 3d i suspect there would have to be a way of storing large amounts of sprite data outside the vram area for storage)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=PGw8-6vXwU4 skip a bit till you see the ingame stuff...
not realtime 3d, but converted 3d to sprites I think.. so even light effects aren't
done realtime (when you shoot), but it's converted

Most later SNES games have the same. Pre-rendered 3D graphics. (Example: Donkey Kong Country series.)

@ topic and re-topic...

Cute idea and even a good re-idea. I'll rejoin... Not before autumn though...

Last one was scenetunes... Wouldn't mind some kind of japanesegamemusicremakechallenge (+1 for scrabble) either...
