Well, just for the heck of it I was looking at some old music disks, or at least I wanted too, but if I download the Impact music disks from MRC and make a DSK image of them, all the songs give a load error in both Moonblaster as Soundtracker Pro anyone got decently working versions of those that I can run in the emulator?

But does the music disk itself play the songs normally?

I just downloaded Impact Music Disk 5 and it works normally (tried in openMSX).

Well the dsk files i got from poke-1,170 all work, so I guess something went wrong when I made my own dsk images...

But anyway, how about this challenge huh? how what & when?

Anyone got Compjoetania's Noise Disk for me?
It wasn't on their site and i remember some nice tunes on it...

i have it SOMEWHERE...

When I'm home this weekend I can look for the original mbm files, because Noisedisk itself has a nasty copy protection on it IIRC.

I hope not too soon (like in: deadline before 2006), cuz I use a very irregular and slow way to rearrange the tune I chose...

And if I get the Noise Disk tunes from Low_Profile, I might make a second entry (which takes loads of time as well )

But hell yeah... It should be held... It's nice to see some people I remember from the dutch scene, like you, sound enthousiastic...

@Low_Profile:
Noisedisk has a copy protection indeed (not nasty though). I remember removing that once, if you want an unprotected dsk, mail me in private.

yes, but it's not scene-music

That's to be the official rule, the to-be-remade tune has to originate from a composer from the msx-demoscene, for example from musicdisks, diskmags, picturedisks, demodisks etc. Ofcourse a cover by such a composer isn't really valid. So you can't for example cover my 'Five Circles' from Muzax 3, since that's actually Vangelis' music. It has to be original music..

That's the problem I had when going through Impact's disks Even Copy=Crime has ripped melodies from Commando but where do we draw the line? In that event, it was a small part of existing melody incorporated in a completely different song.

Let's first setup some idea of rules:

- you may use all the audio-equipment you have or can hire
- only fully original songs by msx-scene-composers, no partly covered or fully covered songs by the composer you choose.

for example, on Muzax3 you can find "Aurora Borealis 2", but it's partly based on Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells 2, so you can't take that one

- remakes of scene-games are ofcourse allowed (think ANMA, MSX-Engine etc.)
- if tunes originally loop all the time and don't really have an ending, you may compose an ending for it (try to stick to the style for best results)

perhaps more rules will follow
