As of yesterday Bazix is officially the middle-man between MSX Association and European/English-speaking countries. You can contact Bazix if you have any questions regarding that role. More information will be published on the Bazix website soon.
Btw: Bazix = Bart + Rikusu + Snout (lets stick to nicks here ^_^), so euhm... don't forget about the others dude. |

The 'equals' part Guyver800 sketches here is not completely right. More platforms is more games, true. More games is more money, maybe... But more money is new MSX hardware?
|
I was under the impression that a percentage from all 'MSX Revival' related profits was used to gain funds for developing new MSX hardware, as has happened with the MSX GameReader and the already mentioned one-chip-MSX system.
What you are suggesting now is that none of the money that Bazix makes via its Woomb site is put back into the MSX Revival, which I can't believe to be true.
Can you confirm or deny, please?

What I was trying to say is that the company Bazix will most likely not be directly funding the production of MSX hardware. At least, not in the forseeable future. Step by step, remember? You are correct that Bazix is indirectly funding the MSX revival by transferring part of the turnover of WOOMB to MSX Association. |

Ok, and that was what I meant. I did not mean to imply Bazix would have anything to do with hardware directly, I apologize if it seemed that way.

One question springs in my mind. Are the games revived or the MSX system?
MSX has more things to offer then games.
People with no MSX background tend to play the games and do not ask what platform the game was made.
I think the games are now populair because those game are perfect for the mobile phones and some handhelds. But with the rapid increase of power of these devices I doubt the interest in these games will last long.
There is only one thing that can truely revive the MSX is the introduction of a new line of MSX computers and consoles.
But if a look at my PC I ask myself, would these devices work different if MSX still was the leading system? I tend to say no. Maybe there would be a basic OS system (like MSX-BASIC) still inside the computer.

There's still an MSX logo everytime you boot a game, and there's "MSXPLAYer" in your titlebar...
The whole point of this revival is to get people (back) in touch with MSX.
The hardware part of the revival flows forth from the software part.
Since you can't compete with the big players in the market, unless you are a multi-billionaire and want to become poor, the only way to force yourself in the market is to create demand.
By rereleasing old MSX games, and releasing new MSX games, you introduce people to the MSX feeling and the unique MSX gameplay. The same attraction that kept us, the old-skool MSX'ers, with this system for more than 20 years, will (hopefully ) create demand among the mainstream gamers and enthusiasts.
The reason the MSX Revival moves step by step slowly, is because it's the only way. It's like walking over a box of eggs. If you do it slowly, you'll succeed, if you move too fast, you'll break all of them.

As of yesterday the Bazix website is online. A correctly translated version of the MSX Logo Policy was published and a press-release which contains information on the future plans of Bazix can be found there as well. Does all this information lead to new questions?
To Henk: Your question already has pretty much been answered by GuyveR800, who clearly has been following the MSX Revival with great attention. For the time being we will be releasing bundled software, which means you receive an emulator with a game embedded. Alas, this means the software you buy at WOOMB.net can't be run on a real MSX. Perhaps that is a next step we can take somewhere in the future. |

You could have used a nicer in-game screenshot for DASS really too lazy to play to the latter levels? *grin*
Nah, no biggy, congratz on the launch! And Snout: I'll be in touch sometime next week to see if we can set up a meeting, virtual or otherwise. |

We had little time left when we made the screenshots, but I agree with you (yeah, I'm the one responsible for that (and the other) screenshot(s) ) there are nicer screens in the later levels |

So -for the moment- no software for MSX ... well, I understand the "we must educate the gamers before launching MSX soft/hard" thing, but I think people could become confortable using their PCs for their MSX experience and they'll never use a MSX piece of hardware...
...well, time will tell, for now I only wanted to wish a lot of success in their future projects for people behind Bazix! . And, please, this really looks like a serious project, try hard not to forget your main goals by selling emulators and games. All the english-talking MSX community are now expecting great things from you, so now you must face the responsability of this project and do your best to get that thing growing.
Again, good luck!. I hope you'll do this thing in the right way, for the future of the non-japanese MSX scene!. I'm counting on you guys ! Keep the MSX alive!
