I found other free hosting for msx-link page, so now msx-link article has a mirror.

http://msxlink.chat.ru

This web provider puts on each page small banner you can easily close, but at least they promise they will not delete your account if you don't visit the site for a long time.

A question for all owners of a Yamaha YIS-805/128R2 computer :

http://www.bluemsx.com/blueforum/viewtopic.php?t=1082

Which key(s) must be pressed down in the boot sequence to run directly the PAINTER ?

All I remember about special keys on russian Yamaha MSX2 is DEL for disabling network
(I am not talking about skipping password, disabling 2nd disk, etc. because it's the same on all other MSXes)
Painter should be called with GRAPH+something... you've disassembed PAINTER.ROM and know the answer ? :-)

LOL !

Until now, I've tried each single key without success ... so, I was guessing that it would be a key combi
Thanks for your tip ... it's the first part of the combi

Well, I've found it !

It's not a key combi, but the only single key that I didn't have tried : the SPACEBAR !!!!

Very funny

Just tried it with fMSX-DSL...
You are right... I completely forgot this.
Writing _PAI (instead of CALL PAINTER) is not too much work, so there was no real need to use this spacebar trick, that's why I don't remember.

mars2000you:
About this guy on your forum asking about CP/M,
1) you are right about teacher's MSX having to boot from floppy,
but MAYBE there were special configurations of YIS805 with CP/M inside ?

I read somewhere there were 2 kinds of classes (I don't remember where I got this info):

a) one YIS805 and nine YIS503 (class for 1 teacher and 9 students - I saw a lot of them)
b) some amount (maybe 10) of YIS805 (maybe we should call it developers class ?) I never saw such one.

2) tell him the command is "CALL CPM".

3) tell him to join ru.msx.org and start asking in the russian forum !

Thanks, cax, for all these precisions !

About point 1 : I'm also presuming that, because this guy is speaking only about YIS805 for students

About point 2 : Just found it by re-reading the existing docs !

About point 3 : Good advice, I'll add it in my answer (was made before I had read your post)

Thank you for advertising.
On many blogs people are fighting to leave the very first comment,
but surprizingly nobody tries to leave a message on a virgin forum on ru.msx.org !

Are there any plans to implement YM3802-based network module in emulators ?

Hi ppl!

This is my first post in this forum. I am an owner of YIS805/128, but actually havent used it for a while, five years or so. So after a long time checked the msx scene in net and to my surprise so much new exciting stuff is going on! I mean in both software (symbos, uzix etc) and especially for me, in hardware area the amazing MSX-Link device for "classroom network". Can't wait for the opportunity to take the machine out of the closet and try all this stuff!

Anyway, I noticed a particular post by dlhau in this same thread, though it is from two years ago. Too bad I didn't know about this post when it was still fresh.

Does anyone at all has electronic schematics of YIS-805/128R2??? I tried to extend memory to 256K by populating 4 empty places for 4464 DRAM ICs (and 9 related capacitors), but it didn't do anything, so I guess something additional has to be done...

Well, it happens I have done this. And it happens also, that I have the Yamaha schematics, sent to me by Msxegor in year 1996. The trick is that additionally to RAM chips one has to re-adjust two jumpers. Just in case the problem is still actual I'll give here the probable markers of the jumpers:

- J30? (last number is hard to read, think it is 9), this jumper is located near the chip "memory mapper circuit" IC314 (type L3139) and also quite near to the RAM chips, if I recall correctly

- J30? (again last number is hard to read, think it is 6), this jumper is near the chip "FCM - FFM" IC33? (? is probably 9)

Note that I'm not absolutely sure in all this, I could be only after checking directly from the board. But there were two jumpers for sure
