Well, I think a Turbo-R could still do a pretty nice job when using assembly. You'd prolly end up having disk-space issues if you don't use a HD tho... I wonder how many fps it could do...

Try to make it yourself
Don't forget to add 'AND 31' to the YJK-converted RGB values tho

**whistles**

But then again, do you recall how slow DOS2 is when trying to handle big files? (big, as in >8MB orso)... Precisely, undoable on MSX, so sorry :\

Why would DOS2 be slow with bigger files? Mind you, the first thing I asked is where are all the "haakjes" and the ANDs...

Okay, okay, I get the point, I thought it was overhead, whatever. Minimalistic, [D-Tail]-istic person, that's what I am

SLotman, if you're reading this, what do you say about it?

(Let's go back on topic, shall we? )

Nyyrikki: you might as well know MSX is too slow for realtime EVA-conversion, and static conversion (like this conversion program does) will cost too much time on a MSX, even turboR. It's now like it can convert ~100 frames per second on my Pentium III 600.

I did a small test and it seems that MSX tR could convert EVA to screen 8 in about 1 FPS speed. On MSX2 this number is about 0.25fps

... and as EVA movies usually do 10 to 12 FPS...

Yes, I'm able to calculate... Converting one minute of 12 fps EVA would take about 48 minutes on MSX2, but don't spoil all the fun! :-9

You can safely do this conversion during the night, a running MSX doesn't make any noise

My one /DOES/, actually; got myself a HDD connected and all ^_^. And besides, you really don't want to do EVAs on a HDD, just burn them to a CD-ROM instead. The EVA-replayer doesn't like a defragmented disk for instance

Ah well, it would be nice to try sometime

NYYRIKKI: I've tested the stuff with a trailer of Konami's game Dance Dance Revolution, which is a 12FPS, 1243-frame-movie. This one is about 1 minute and 45 seconds, and it converts in approx. 12 seconds on my PC. It would take more than 20 minutes to convert on MSX. Guess which is more appropriate

So... 300MHz MSX2 could do the job in same time, where the other 300MHz went?

Well, the program was made in Java. I guess that consumes the rest of the 600MHz

Hell, it even has a front-end!

[D-Tail]: All very nice talking about this converter you made, but is there perhaps any chance in hell one would be able to find (and use) this application somewhere? .

And make sure it has a "ALL USELESS OVERHEAD (C) TOBY" line on it

t00bs: that can be arranged

BHR: As I'm still working a little bit to make things look more nicer, I think you can wait a week orso . I'll put it online on the Bitwise Web HQ then, most likely. In any case, you'll be notified. After all, the commandline version isn't quite finished yet, and I'm rewriting parts of the code to work more effectively. Anyhow, it works already, if not a bit 'bloated'

Hi!

The eva player for ide interface (version 1.0) suports another "eva format" based on screen8 and 4 bit PCM samples through the PSG. If you put an #02 on the position #3BFD of every frame, the player recognises it.
But I've created a long time ago some videos of this type, and the image and sound are not very good...

Sorry for my bad english.
