We all know Parodius is filled with parodies of classical music. I'm currently looking for the real names of those classical compositions. If anybody can help me completing that list it would be very much appreciated.

For the record, I'm only interrested in the music of the MSX version of Parodius.

I already recognized 3 of them:
  • The stage-boss BGM = Flight of The Bumble Bee
  • The bonus stage = March of The Toreadors
  • Some BGM which I haven't located yet in the game = Concerto for Piano No. 1
The others are still uncertain or even unknown to me.

The stage with the bumping hammers . .. (was it with stage 4 with the statues? it's the tune without drums) -> Swanlake suite, by Tchaikovsky

I've looked into some numbers on MMP and .KSS. You can play .KSS files with Winamp using MSX-Plug.

MMP, .KSS, <BGM>, real name
1, 48 ($30), Select, ?
2, 49 ($31), Intro Demo, ?
3, 50 ($32), End Demo, ?
4, 51 ($33), Game Over, ?
5, 52 ($34), Pre-stage, ?
6, 53 ($35), Crisis, ?
7, 54 ($36), Boss, Flight of The Bumble Bee
8, 55 ($37), Bonus Stage, March of The Toreadors
9, 56 ($38), Stage 1, Concerto for Piano No. 1
10, 57 ($39), Stage 2, ?
11, 58 ($3A), Stage 3, ?
12, 59 ($3B), Stage 4, ?
13, 60 ($3C), Stage 5, Swan Lake
14, 61 ($3D), Stage 6, ?

It's possible for a number to have more compositions. Like Stage 1 which begins with Concerto for Piano No. 1 seems to go to a different composition. If this is true, I'd like to know which composition(s) numbers are going through.

Thanks, I'll look into those. Though I already know some midi's in your aren't in the MSX version, like In the mood... which is present in for example the PlayStation version.

The second link you gave (I had to paste that one) only gives the names Konami gave them and the places where you can hear them. They don't give the original compositions.

The first link you gave does give more info about original compositions, though not from the MSX version. I do think it may help me in my quest to find the ones used in the MSX version.

What do you mean by that... different... The playlist has the hexadecimal values, my personal list has decimal values. Using a calculator you'll get exaclty the same numbers.

can you post a link to that... I'm quite sure that range is incorrect. I'd say you try yourself with the KSS file. Then you'll know for sure.

Okee, ... did a check on valkens site... yep is your numbering...
don't know where my version came from then ??? shift-delete !!

But that's not what i mean, using KSS numbering can be different cause different people can use different techniques.
For example ,... i've at least thee different nemesis II versions.
So using the MMP numbering is much safer (well thats what i think offcourse)

Okee..... back to the Classic Masters ...
(
he did you know that de bgm music in the game Elidon is :
Grieg, Edvard Hagerup - Peer Gynt Suite - Anitra's Dance
)
