From my previous post I did obain a MSX Turbo R ST. The appearance is not too bad but I would like to make it shine.. What I would like to do is remake the whole thing into a all-in-one unit, this is my concept idea, tell me how you'd think

- 17"+ TFT Monitor w/ integrated Upscan converter
- Upgrade Turbo R upgrade to 512/1024k RAM
- motherboard integrated into Monitor and built-in Hard Drive
- Removable Keyboard and Trackball mouse
- Powersupply will power both the MSX and Hard Drive
- Repainted Keyboard without the Japanese letters
- Blue Led mods

Like any hi-Tech machine the MSX does deserve to live on. I have done this before with My Mac G3>G4 and commodore and this might seem intresting; although I will render the value of the ST to zero, I think it would make the MSX Turbo R ST live longer than I will

I'd personally say: go for it, but leave the harddisk out. Use CompactFlash instead. On MSX, CompactFlash is just as fast or maybe even faster, quiet and a lot more versatile.

Try to get a case+screen from a broken eMac or so... Make it an eMSXturboR..

Anyway, I agree with Snout; don't use a HD but a CF card.

Why would such a project make your Turbo R live longer?

If live longer is the thing, then wait for OneChip MSX

Counting that the Mac mini costs just 489€, I think that more than 250€ for the new MSX would be very expensive (of course, that is if it really come out to the market)

Well, fortunately it doesn't look like the OneChip MSX will be that expensive

And even if it is, you can't compare a niche product tailor-made for a select group of people with a gazillion-dollar mass-market product...

Sorry [D-Tail] you lost me there, but I think you might actually have a point...

That's what it's all about, now isn't it? We don't do MSX because we earn huge piles of cash with it. It's plain love for a long 'dead' home computer system, and I damn like it!
