Would it be correct to create a program that outputs the contents of the ROMs to the screen in binary format as good old 1s and 0s?

You can try that and result will be accepted if we all agree that at least 10 different animal pictures can be detected. How ever I find it very unlikely that this is gonna work.

Just find the pictures and display them. There are really no tricks involved in this one.

Only "weird" thing is, that these MSX developers have really put animal pictures inside our MSXs. I can't find any reason for this.

I've got a feeling this has something to do with the chinese astrology animals which, most likely, are stored in the Kanji font ROM somewhere.

I think BiFi is right... As this seems to be harder than I thought, I'll post a screenshot of the solution:

... now everything you need to do is to type the program in and post it here to win.

Good work BiFi, now it's your turn.

Here is my original solution to this problem:

10 _KANJI:SCREEN3:FORI=1TO13:READ A:LOCATE3,1:PRINTCHR$(236);CHR$(A);:FORW=-1TO0:W=(INKEY$=""):NEXTW,I:DATA 181,184,187,191,207,209,241,242,244,245,248,250,252

uhm.. overkill comercial program? You mean like an MSX program that was sold, and a certain demo keeps promoting and marketing it?

Like uhm.. FAC demos referring to FST?

something like that, but that's not what I fully mean... if I explain more I'll give away too much.

Maybe Unknown Reality, having commercials for Sampbox 4 Macro, by using it and promoting it in a <commercial presentation> text during loading?

Unknown Reality does have a picture of Ray Cokes from MTV, if you mean that with an overkill commercial (TV) program
