TURBO R drive (again)

So I finally found some time to completely open it and see what's wrong with the drive of the GT.
Well first guess was the belt however after the complete opening of the drive I'm no longer sure of that one.
Now I would have expected that one to be in a quite bad situation(worn out or allmost worn out or much stretched or something like that) after the sudden bonk and the noise change when playing XAK.
However the truth is that the belt doesn't look to me like it's the real problem (still it might be how should I know.)
So any people have a clue.
Have I misjudged it. Might there be something else. Or is it now time to take the thing actually to the more profesional people (Bas ) and let's see if they can fix it.

When I replaced the drive-belt of my turboR drive I thought the old one looked pretty fine as well. Still, the new drive-belt solved all my FDD problems. It's really worth a shot!

Put a PC floppy drive, with a special cable.

I did it, and TR works fine

Reading the work that is (based on the article of Hans Otten) that would be probally not a option I can do myself.
Also for cosmetical reasons it wouldn't look that nice. If possible I want to have it as orriginal as possible.

Did you use an original drive-belt or one from your local electronic store?

It's the best way for fix your problem.

a pc floppy disk running in TR, without TR board modification

I donīt understand "cosmetical". Why? If you put a PC floppy drive, you don't need break nothing.
Put a special cable

Well I just checked the drive was just in original condition. So that's why changing it acutally might work. However I didn't found the belt to look that bad personally so I really wonder if it's the belt and not something else.
I know it's probally the most known drive problem of the TURBO-R.

But you still have a colour difference at the site. I know this is nitpicking.
Also the cable option you put here is allready much easier, but still no real easy sollution for me.

Robert

can you answer the question about the drive belt.
Original or a belt from your local store?

The belt that's in there still is the original belt that's been in there from 1992( I think it was but also could be 1991)

in 90% it is only the belt.
But be carefull, you need the right one.
Lots of people use a normal belt of the electronic store, but it works, but mostly not for long.
